A new Palworld update is upon us, and with it comes the ability to own just about every Pal you could ever hope to stuff into the murkiest depths of your Palbox. With Pocketpair's latest patch, pushing the early access game to version 0.1.4.0, you'll never have to worry about catching too many Pals again. If you spent your week crafting Pal Spheres to capture any and every little monster available, you may have encountered the game-breaking bug that saw saves containing over 7,000 caught Pals corrupted.
The latest Palworld patch aims to fix that issue, allowing for the total number of captured Pals to exceed 7,000. Unfortunately, though, any broken saves previously affected by the bug aren't currently salvageable. Pocketpair says that you won't be able to load any save data corrupted before today's update, but reassures players that the team is "continuing to work on fixing this issue permanently."
We can still make the best of the Palworld update and catch 'em all... again, taking solace in the fact that the patch addresses various other game-breaking bugs, too. No longer will your Pals get stuck in walls, or take random fall damage while working at your base. As someone with many mountain-adjacent bases, I'm happy to hear that I'll no longer need to scoop my Pals out of awkward spots they've clipped into.
You should find your working pals easier to deal with overall, as the update adjusts how assignments work, how hunger drains, how Pals transport items, and how Pals find their way to necessary stations like farm areas. For instance, your Pals will no longer suffer mental breakdowns upon realizing that you built your farm on the second floor or higher. They also won't randomly stop mid-transportation of materials and continuously drop everything on the ground until you frantically run over to collect them.
Speaking of collecting materials, it should be much easier now. If you struggle with exceeding your carry weight as I do, you'll also be excited to learn that Pocketpair's new patch makes it possible to move around no matter how many random materials you have stacked up in your inventory. Your movement will be extremely slow, but it will still be movement, which means you can head to your chests to drop things off even if it's at a whopping one-mile-per-hour speed.
Most of the other changes coming with patch 0.1.4.0 are similar bug fixes and quality-of-life tweaks. You can check the full Palworld patch notes out on Steam, where you'll also find some of Pocketpair's plans for the future. Considering the developer's recently discussed Palworld roadmap, we'll likely see much bigger updates later on including everything from new bosses to PvP features.
