Disclaimers About This Tier List
This Tier List ranks Pals on their base type, power, ease of catching, and general abilities. Keep in mind that Pals have different passive and active skills, so a lower-tier Pal with great passive or active skills might outperform a higher-tier Pal without them. This list also only considers Ground Pals to be those with the Ground Element as their primary element - some Pals, such as those with Grass-Ground typing, will be considered on their own primary element list so as not to overlap.

How We Ranked the Best Ground Pals
When coming up with our rankings for the best Ground Pals, we looked at several different categories: power, Partner Skills, Active Skill pools, how easy it is to obtain them, and general overall usefulness. Here's what our Tiers mean at a glance:
- S-Tier: The best of the best, Pals in this category are the best in almost every situation.
- A-Tier: Great in all situations, these Pals are well-rounded and will be more than adequate for most players.
- B-Tier: Average to Good in a wide variety of situations, these Pals are solidly useful, but may be outpaced by higher tier Pals.
- C-Tier: These Pals are not generally recommended, however they still can find situational usefulness.
- D-Tier: The worst Ground Pals - unless you have no other options, not recommended for long-term use.
S-Tier Ground Pals: The Best Ground Pals
The absolute best of the best - this Ground Pal would make for the perfect addition to any team, and certainly handles its fair share of work in endgame assembly lines.
It might not be a surprise that Anubis tops the Ground element tier list. This Pal has a ton going for it: while it can't be ridden, it has excellent Work Suitability, a strong set of available moves, and a truly interesting Partner Skill. To top it off, it's guaranteed to spawn as an Alpha Pal - meaning you're always going to be able to find one up, as long as no one's tackled its challenge lately. There's truly no match for this Pal among other Ground Pals - although one Pal comes close.
A-Tier Ground Pals
While not quite S-Tier, our A-Tier picks are versatile, powerful Pals that make for a great addition to any team.
Just shy of S-Tier, Warsect is our A-Tier Pal of choice. The strongest overall Ground Pal, it has access to two fantastic top-tier moves, Solar Blast and Rock Lance. It also has a good variety of Work Suitabilities for an endgame base, although none of its Suitabilities are Rank 4, which is unfortunate. Its Partner Skill is also decent, but unfortunately this is where this Pal falls a bit flat - while we love the added defense it brings to the table, additionally adding Fire Damage to player attacks is a bit of an odd choice given that it's a Ground-Grass type. If this Partner Skill was just slightly better, an argument could be made to bump it up a tier, but for now, Warsect is a solid A.
B-Tier Ground Pals
B-Tier Pals are solid middle of the pack choices - each with something a little special to make them stand out.
Unlike most elemental families, Ground Pals really only have one good B-Tier choice, and that is Digtoise. This Pal yearns for the mines - literally. Digtoise are tailor-made to stock your bases with every bit of stone, ore, and coal you could possibly need for the rest of your gameplay. Their Partner Skill increases their efficiency when mining ore, they only have the Mining Suilability so they never get distracted, and their moveset is not only incredibly powerful, having access to both Ground and, oddly, Water moves, but also an exclusive Shell Spin skill that both deals damage as well as helps its mining capabilities. While you won't be bringing it to endgame boss battles, every base worth its salt should have its own Digtoise mining corps.
C-Tier Ground Pals
Our C-Tier Pals suffer from the niche use curse - while in specific situations they're great, those situations just don't happen very often.
Interestingly, the majority of Ground element Pals have very niche uses due to their Partner Skills. Rushoar, for example, can be ridden, but its Partner Skill involves riding it into boulders to destroy them, which just doesn't make practical sense after level 10 or so. Likewise, Hangyu and Eikthyrdeer Terra can both be used as a Glider and a Mount respectively, but don't have much else going for them - although Eikthyrdeer Terra's Partner Skill to increase tree cutting capabilities could potentially carry it a bit farther as a base worker, into the midlevel ranges. Finally, Dumud shines when its placed in a team full of Ground Pals, but that realistically won't be a team you'll ever set up - unless you really, really love Ground Pals.
We wish these Pals had more versatile uses - unfortunately, outside of their specific niches, these aren't the Pals for a hard-hitting team.
D-Tier Ground Pals: The Worst Ground Pals
Unfortunately, there always has to be a Pal that wins the title of Worst Ground Pal - and this time, there are two.
Surfent Terra is unfortunately just not a useful Pal. Having the atrocious Work Suitability of Gatherin 1 and nothing else does it no favors, and on top of that its Partner Skill only allows it to be ridden - nothing else. It could have been saved by its moveset, but even that is weak, having access to only one 150 Power move at level 50, which places it far behind other Pals with more in the 100+ range. Surfent Terra just can't keep up when it comes to Ground Pals, and is sadly just a line in the Paldeck.
Similarly, Fuddler has problems with its moveset as well, and while it has a slightly larger variety of Work Suitability, it's still not worth it past the earliest levels of your Palworld journey. Its Partner Skill is equally useless, because you'll ideally be setting up a mining base - not looking for ore out in the world.
These Pals just couldn't quite cut it - and we recommend bringing any other Pals on this list along on your adventures before these two.
