Craft a Parachute

After exploring the open world for a while, you’ll soon realize there are constant cliffs and drops in your way. You can only climb for so long before running out of stamina, and you likely won't have a flying mount for a while.

The good news is you can craft a Parachute at level five, allowing you to soar from cliffs across gaps. The only downside is that it also drains stamina, but it will make traversing the world much easier in the early game. It also only costs 10 Wood and two Cloth, making it a cheap item to craft.

Craft a Shield

Shields might seem like another item that will clog your inventory, but it's essentially a layer of armor with little downside. The Shield doesn’t need to be equipped, meaning you just add it to your inventory for the extra protection.

You can craft the first Shield at level Four and should be able to find all necessary ingredients in the first hour or so of playtime. This item should be a priority early on to help you survive against stronger Pals.

Use the quick command to store items in chests

Palworld has dozens of items, weapons, materials, and other loot that are worth hoarding as you improve your base and gear. Sorting all of these items can be difficult, especially when you return home after a long adventure.

However, there is a Quick Stack option that many players miss. When you open a Chest or other storage item, you can press R on PC or RB on Xbox to quickly stack all items from your inventory in a corresponding stack in the storage item. This will let you dump tons of items instantly without having to manually place each one.

You can manually assign Pals by throwing them

Having a variety of Pals at your base is great, but not if they aren’t doing the appropriate task. Sometimes Pals with multiple skills will wander off from the task at hand to do something else. You can easily get them back on track by literally picking them up and throwing them at a Production station or object. Just make sure you throw them close to the station, as they can lock onto something else.

Automate early

Palworld requires a significant grind to constantly have the supplies and resources needed to upgrade gear and equipment. It can get tedious doing it alone, so using your Pals to automate the process is essential. Make sure you have every Production area in your base with a Pal working to supply you with Wood, Stone, and other necessary components.

Don’t stress about base placement

It might seem like a tough choice when determining where you want to build your base, considering the large map. But the good news is you can move your Pal Box at any time, and you’ll eventually be able to have more than one active base at once. Pick a spot in the early game with enough space to grow, and consider moving later when it no longer suits your needs.

Craft at least two Egg Incubators

Catching Pals is fun, but you can also hatch them with Egg Incubators after defeating the first boss. Some eggs require certain parameters to incubate faster, like faster or colder temperatures. The best way to ensure you can hatch all egg types effectively is crafting two Egg Incubators. Place one inside your house and the other outside and add or remove fires and heaters as needed. This makes it much easier than trying to make one Incubator work for every egg.

Upgrade the Pal Box as frequently as possible

The Pal Box is one of the first things you’ll craft in Palworld, allowing you to store extra Pals and build a base. But you shouldn’t ignore it as you progress, especially if you want to have an efficient base.

The tutorial encourages you to upgrade your Pal Box to Level Seven, which you should focus on from the start. However, don't ignore the Palbox after this point, as you can assign more Pals to work for you the more your Pal Box is upgraded.

Prioritize Technology points

The Technology Tree is how you’ll unlock new gears and items as you level up in Palworld. It might be tempting to grab the first recipe that catches your eye, but this could lock you out of having an important item for an entire level.

Make sure to focus on better equipment and items required to upgrade your Pal Box as you earn Tecnology points. Cosmetic base items can wait for later.

The Feed Bag is your friend

The Feed Bag is the second item you can craft with Ancient Technology Points in the Technology Tree. This nifty item creates a food slot in your inventory, which will automatically feed you and your party. Constantly feeding your entire roster can be tedious, and this item saves time and removes the stress of tracking hunger levels.

Catch ten of one Pal and move on

Leveling in Palworld can be tedious if you don’t maximize the amount of XP you earn while exploring and catching new Pals. Each time you catch a Pal, you earn experience. However, this XP bonus caps after you catch ten of the same type of Pal, so don’t waste time capturing the same Pal over and over again.

Exploring and finding new Pals to add to your roster is the easiest way to earn a ton of XP in the early game.

Don’t waste Stat points

Each time you level up in Palworld you’ll earn a stat point to boost one of six Stats that determine your character's abilities and traits. Picking the right stats at the right time can significantly lower the difficulty of your experience.

The best stats to focus on early on are Health, Stamina, and Weight. These stats can make it easier to survive, less difficult to move around, and allow you to carry more loot back to base.

The Attack Stat is nice to upgrade, but the increase per point is low, making it less worthy of your time. The Work Speed Stat is also something you should avoid putting points into in the early game, as you’ll soon have Pals that can do the work for you.

Find a mount early

Walking around in Palworld can be a long and tedious experience. The good news is several Pals can be used as mounts, although you’ll need to catch them first and craft their associated saddles.

The saddles can be unlocked in the Technology menu. One of the earliest Pals you’ll encounter that can serve as a mount is the Direhowl, which is a quick mount perfect for the early game.

Place Wooden Chests near Production areas

Once you’ve sunk a few hours into Palworld, you should have several Production stations where your Pals gather resources. Once the resources are collected, other Pals will carry the items to the nearest Chest. This can take a significant amount of time if the Chests are far away.

The easiest way to avoid wasting time is to place a Chest near each Production area, allowing Pals to stockpile resources quickly and efficiently.

Ore, Ore, and more Ore

Ore is one of the most important resources in Palworld. This raw material is needed to craft metal weapons and gear. It's also needed to craft certain base items that you’ll need after a few hours.

Bringing Ore back to your base each time you explore is essential, especially if you have the room in your inventory. You can also build your base near Ore deposits to have your Pals mine it for you as you explore.

Assign Vixy to the Ranch

Vixy is a Pal that can be found near the first boss tower and is one of the best Pals to assign to the Ranch at your base. This Pal can dig in the Ranch, which provides you with a continuous supply of Arrows, Blue Pal Spheres, and Gold Coins.

There are other Pals that provide resources when assigned to the Ranch, but Vixy should be your first choice for the first few weeks in Palworld.

Buy from Merchants

Hoarding Gold in Palworld is a waste of a resource that could grant you access to needed items, materials, and Pals from Merchants. You can find Merchants relatively early in Palworld, and most have a decent stock of purchasable items.

Don’t be scared to spend your Gold with these shopkeepers, as Gold is easy to obtain.

Plan your exploration around fast travel points

Exploring the open world is one of the best parts of Palworld. However, going too far and being forced to walk back home can be a drag.

When you start a new adventure, consider walking towards the nearest undiscovered fast travel point. This will let you return to the new area faster next time, and will also give you an easy way home. Think twice before walking aimlessly, as you might be in a dangerous area without a quick way to your base.

Use your party as extra workers while at your base

You can assign more and more Pals to work at your base as you level up your Pal Box, providing you with more resources and automated production. But you can also use your Pals in your party as an extra set of hands while at home.

You can deploy your Pals at your base like you would in the wild, and they’ll automatically start working on the nearest task they're capable of completing. Use this to your advantage when crafting new items, mining for resources, or working on any other task.
