Preview of New Destiny 2 Riven's Wishes Gear: Last Wish Weapons, Lightfall Exotic Armor

Riven's Wishes offers a spirited continuation of weekly seasonal activities in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish.

Thanks to the Ahamkara, Destiny 2 has had plenty of wishes in its lore over the years, and as part of the ongoing Season of the Wish, the game is about to get a few more. The Spirit of Riven may have perished at the end of the core seasonal quest Wishing All the Best, but starting January 30, Riven lives on in some capacity to grant players new weekly pursuits.

"Starting on January 30, Riven’s Wishes will provide new weekly pursuits that players can complete to redeem a prize of their choosing from a pool of rewards each week, for six straight weeks," Bungie announced in a This Week in Destiny blog. "That very same day, we’ll also kick off Moments of Triumph 2023, which will offer both in-game and physical Bungie Rewards as well as thirty challenges to honor your last year of achievements."

The January 25 TWID blog post goes into further detail: "Riven has made arrangements with Mara Sov to ensure you’re rewarded for your efforts in fulfilling her final request," it reads. "She left a series of challenges that will each reward you for your heroic deeds." Each of the six weekly quests involves a "high-risk objective in the Dreaming City," Bungie specifically mentions completing Legend Lost Sectors or dungeons, so these quests focus on endgame content. The actual reward is a Wish Token that can be redeemed from one of three categories.

  1. Last Wish Resonance: Choose a red-border Last Wish raid weapon. (Progress towards making one of the raid weapons craftable.)
  2. Exotics: Choose a piece of Lightfall year Exotic armor.
  3. Miscellany: 1 Lost Memento, 1 Dawning Memento, 2 Ascendard Shards, 2 Ascendant Alloys, OR 1 Exotic Cipher.

While it's not a bad idea to go with option 2 here if you're missing a particular piece of Lightfall gear, by far the best reward is Last Wish Resonance. Not only do you get a red-border version granting Deepsight Resonance, but you also get a copy of the gun! Here's a full list of all the weapons that'll be available:

  • The Supremacy sniper rifle
  • Transfiguration scout rifle
  • Apex Predator rocket Launcher
  • Chattering Bone pulse rifle
  • Nation of Beasts hand cannon
  • Techeun Force fusion rifle
  • Tyranny of Heaven bow
  • Age-Old Bond auto rifle

The Supremacy, Apex Predator, and Techeun Force are all considered S-tier in their respective weapon types. Meanwhile Transfiguration, Chattering Bone, Nation of Beasts, Tyranny of Heaven, and Age-Old Bond are all A-tier for theirs. You really can't go wrong claiming any of these weapons.

When it comes to the Lightfall year Exotic armor, most players probably have some or all it already, but it's at the very least an opportunity to get more copies in hopes of a better roll.

  • Hunter: Speedloader Slacks
  • Hunter: Cyrtarachne's Facade
  • Hunter: Triton Vice
  • Hunter: Mothkeeper's Wraps
  • Titan: Cadmus Ridge Lancecap
  • Titan: Abeyant Leap
  • Titan: Arbor Warden
  • Titan: Pyrogale Gauntlets
  • Warlock: Ballidorse Wrathweavers
  • Warlock: Swarmers
  • Warlock: Cenotaph Mask
  • Warlock: Briarbinds

It's unclear if Riven's Wishes was always intended to be part of this season or if it was added at some point after The Final Shape was delayed. Season of the Wish was originally supposed to end with the launch of The Final Shape on February 27, but that was before the expansion was delayed to June 4. If Riven's Wishes had begun in Week 8 (one week after the seasonal storyline wrapped), then its conclusion would have matched up with the original launch date. Instead, Riven's Wishes will now end on March 12

So what exactly are "Riven's Wishes"? Considering we spent so much time this season tracking down her clutch of eggs, and that clutch included six total eggs, then these new quests may correspond to the eggs in some fashion. Hopefully, Bungie includes at least a little bit of story in these quests to help tide us over while we wait for The Final Shape.
