Destiny 2 developer Bungie brought a crossover with The Witcher to the game back in November, but the latest epic crossover is even more on-brand. Coming in February, Destiny 2 will cross over with Mass Effect, and while per usual it will just involve cosmetics, it'll include armor pieces that'll fulfill your wildest dreams of dressing up like Commander Shepard to clobber Cabal and hit Hive.
Announced Tuesday on X ( previously Twitter) with the launch of Riven's Wishes and Moments of Triumph 2023 at weekly reset, Bungie is said it is collaborating with EA and BioWare on the crossover.
"Join the Normandy crew," the tweet reads. "Inspired by Commander Shepard, Garrus Vakarian, Liara T'Soni, and more from the Systems Alliance, arriving via mass relay in Destiny 2 on Feb. 13."
For fans of both sci-fi game franchises, Titans get to cosplay as Commander Shepard, Hunters can don the gear of Garrus, and Warlocks get to dress like Liara. But that's not all. Here's a look at all of the cosmetics coming to the Eververse Store on February 13, 2024.
Normandy Crew Bundle
- Commander Shepard-inspired N7 armor set for Titans
- Garrus-inspired Vakarian set for Hunters
- Liara-inspired Shadow Broker set for Warlocks
Alliance Requisitions Bundle
- Enhanced Defense Ghost Shell (free)
- Alliance Scout Frigate ship (free)
- Alliance Drop Ship Sparrow (free)
- Omni Strike finisher (costs Silver)
- Flux Dance emote (costs Silver)
The official press release does not specify if the Normandy Crew Bundle costs anything, but it's bound to cost at least some Silver. In any case, it's a microtransaction that seems worth it.
The Titans out there are definitely the luckiest of the bunch here because the N7 armor is spot-on. The Omni-Blade orange holographic textures for the Titan Mark are a nice touch to distinguish it from the source material, too. The Liara Warlock set is also really solid, except the shape of the helmet screams Destiny rather than Mass Effect. Why not just replicate Liara's helmet?
Hunters get the worst of the set. Granted, Garrus Vakarian is one of the best characters in anything ever, but Turians have avian features with a metallic carapace and elongated limbs that include dinosaur feet. You can't make a Human, Awoken, or Exo look like a Turian even if you wanted to. The Hunter helmet is an excellent take on Garrus' gear, but forcing a cloak on this set feels like a misstep. It looks like a pretty typical set of Hunter armor unless you zoom in on the helmet which is obscured by the hood. (Also, please give Hunters more non-hood options Bungie!)
Why didn't it base the Hunter set on Tali, a humanoid alien who always wears a cloak and helmet? It's a bit of a bummer, but I'll be throwing however much money I need to at this bundle regardless.
