Disclaimers About This Tier List

This Tier List ranks Pals on their base type, power, ease of catching, and general abilities. Keep in mind that Pals have different passive and active skills, so a lower-tier Pal with great passive or active skills might outperform a higher-tier Pal without them. This list also only considers Grass Pals to be those with the Grass Element as their primary element - some Pals, such as those with Ground-Grass typing, will be considered on their own primary element list so as not to overlap.

How We Ranked the Best Grass Pals

When coming up with our rankings for the best Grass Pals, we looked at several different categories: power, Partner Skills, Active Skill pools, how easy it is to obtain them, and general overall usefulness. Here's what our Tiers mean at a glance:

  • S-Tier: The best of the best, Pals in this category are the best in almost every situation.
  • A-Tier: Great in all situations, these Pals are well-rounded and will be more than adequate for most players.
  • B-Tier: Average to Good in a wide variety of situations, these Pals are solidly useful, but may be outpaced by higher tier Pals.
  • C-Tier: These Pals are not generally recommended, however they still can find situational usefulness.
  • D-Tier: The worst Grass Pals - unless you have no other options, not recommended for long-term use.

S-Tier Grass Pals: The Best Grass Pals

The absolute best of the best - this Grass Pal would make for the perfect addition to any team, and certainly handles its fair share of work in endgame assembly lines.

Healing in Palworld is an incredibly rare and powerful ability - and Lyleen can not only heal the player, she can also heal your entire team. This Partner Skill is phenomenal - we'd argue one of the best in the game - and will absolutely save the day in endgame boss battles.

Not only is Lyleen's Partner Skill incredible, she's also powerful - and has a strong Water ability mixed into her natural moveset to provide variety. Add to that her high-level Work Suitabilities, and Lyleen turns into an invaluable Pal on and off the battlefield.

A-Tier Grass Pals

While not quite S-Tier, our A-Tier picks are versatile, powerful Pals that make for a great addition to any team.

Our three A-Tier choices, Robinquill Terra, Petallia, and Wumpo Botan all have their pros and cons for different team compositions. Robinquill Terra has a relatively poor Partner Skill, but holds immense power - both an exclusive skill along with two Power 150 attacks, Solar Blast and Rock Lance. It also has average Work Suitability in several categories, making it a strong Base Pal as well - at least, until you can specialize with higher Suitability Pals.

Petallia has an incredibly strong Partner Skill, but not quite as strong as the S-Tier version - it only heals the player, not the team. It has an average power level, and great Work Suitability, along with being substantially easier to catch; this keeps it higher in the ranks than it would be otherwise.

Finally, Wumpo Botan is the powerhouse of the A-Tier Grass Pals. By far the strongest in this tier, this Pal's powerhouse abilities are unfortunately held back by its mediocre Partner Skill. It does have excellent Work Suitabilities - they just aren't enough to make up for the lack of a truly strong Partner Skill.

B-Tier Grass Pals

B-Tier Pals are solid middle of the pack choices - each with something a little special to make them stand out.

Grass Pals have fierce competition due to the size of their family, so even B-Tier choices are great for a team. Pals like Broncherry Aqua, Dinossom, and Mossanda pull double duty as mounts, with varying levels of power to choose from. Verdash, Robinquill, and Vaelet, however, focus less on power and more on utility - they're fantastic Base Pals with wide ranging Work Suitability, even if their Partner Skills and overall power aren't the best. Finally, Elizabee is a fascinating Pal, given that her power increases when she's paired with a full team of Beegarde, however that's a rather niche role - her overall power and Work Suitability aren't too shabby even without that specific combo, however.

C-Tier Grass Pals

Our C-Tier Pals suffer from the niche use curse - while in specific situations they're great, those situations just don't happen very often.

Some Pals may have the fact that they're a Mount Pal going for them, but these Grass Pals wilt under pressure. Bristla might be useful in a full Grass Pal team, but otherwise, it's fairly outstripped - it just can't keep up with stronger Pals. Cinnamoth has a Partner Skill that's both a blessing and a curse; while Poison makes Pals easier to catch, it also makes it easier to accidentally kill them. Broncherry and Mammorest have poor Partner Skills outside of niche situations, and Beegarde is relegated to a specific Elizabee team composition unless you're specifically after a Honey farm.

Lifmunk and Tanzee deserve a special mention, only because they are early-game Base Pals - they'll be staples in your Base right off the bat given how early you can find them, and their wide range of Work Suitability. This is a very early niche, however - you can find better Base Pals very quickly, and these two will soon be obsolete.

We wish these Pals had more versatile uses - unfortunately, outside of their specific niches, these aren't the Pals for a hard-hitting team.

D-Tier Grass Pals: The Worst Grass Pals

Unfortunately, there always has to be a Pal that wins the title of Worst Grass Pal - and the large Grass elemental family boasts three D-Tier Pals.

Gumoss really doesn't have much going for it - a mediocre native moveset, a terrible Work Suitability, and an extraordinarily niche Partner Skill don't inspire confidence in this small Pal. It's great for about five minutes in the early game when setting up your first Berry Farm, but after that, this Pal is just a line in the Paldeck - and, well, a good source of memes.

Similarly, Caprity sees little use because, by the time you'll find one, you've already got a solid source of food at your Base - rendering its Partner Skill all but useless. Poor moves and poor work suitability relegate this one to the Palbox as well, since it can't even be used as a Mount, even though it looks like it could at first glance.

Finally, one of the absolute worst Partner Skills we've seen belongs to Flopie. Picture this: you're in your base, you've automated some mining, crafting, and woodcutting, things are going great; your Pals are dutifully running around, and while your Pals can't always keep up with the sheer amount of materials you're producing, at least the piles are lying neatly, waiting for one of your workers to get to it. Enter Flopie: now, suddenly, you've been saddled with sixteen tons of ore, stone, and wood because Flopie automatically picked up everything in a three-mile radius around you. No thanks!

These Pals just couldn't quite cut it - and we recommend bringing any other Pals on this list along on your adventures before these three.
