Destiny 2 Strangers in Time Guide - How to Beat the VoG Gatekeeper Challenge

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is here and it’s time to elevate your fashion game. Along with new weapons, a 6 player activity, armor, story missions, and season pass, the heavily requested armor transmogrification feature is finally arriving. In this season, players will team up with the Fallen Captain Mithrax to stop the Vex from plunging Earth into total darkness. Along with all this new content, players can also experience the Vault of Glass raid for the first time in Destiny 2. The original raid in the base game, Vault of Glass is beloved by many in the community due to its encounter design and loot. Similar to previous Destiny 2 raids, there are also challenges you’ll need to complete if you want the Fatebreaker title.

Here’s how to beat the Gatekeeper encounter’s “Strangers in Time” challenge in the Vault of Glass:

(Author’s Note: This guide is written under the assumption that you know the basics of the encounter.)

Strangers in Time Challenge

To complete the Strangers in Time challenge you will need to kill both the Minotaurs and Wyvern enemies in Mars and Venus within 2-3 seconds of one another. Because of this, being able to burst damage the Wyverns is critical to your success. You will want to run high damage abilities like Blade Barrage, Chaos Reach, Nova Bomb, and Thundercrash to ensure you can kill the Wyverns in a single hit. Additionally, make sure to have a grenade launcher and the Breach and Clear mod. This will debuff the Wyverns, making them easier to kill and ensuring you can defeat them when the person carrying the Relic attacks the Minotaur.

Along with Supers, you will also want to use exotics like Xenophage, The Lament, and One Thousand Voices. These, when combined with Breach and Clear, will let you absolutely melt the Wyverns will little trouble. If you’re running into trouble with the Wyverns reaching the conflux before the Relic carrier then consider running Stasis instead. While this makes you more reliant on using your Heavy weapons, being able to freeze the Wyverns (and Minotaurs!) with abilities is a terrific way to stall them while your Relic carrier gets in position. The Warlock’s Bleak Watcher aspect is a powerhouse for this challenge since it will essentially stunlock the Wyvern in place.

More Destiny 2:

Remember, you can still damage the Wyverns before the Relic carrier begins attacking the Minotaur. You have to just make sure it doesn’t die before the people in the other timeline are ready. So if you’re unsure about killing them in one big attack, weaken them to about half health. You should also have the Relic carrier count down from three before they attack the Minotaur to ensure both sides are on the same page. Once you start fighting in the center of the room as a team you can kill the Minotaurs and Wyverns whenever you want. This challenge only cares about the enemies inside of Mars or Venus.
