In OlliOlli World, you’re constantly meeting new characters across Radlandia. But as you traverse through levels in search of the Skate Godz, you also bump into other players’ avatars during specific activities. This guide explains how OlliOlli Word multiplayer works, and how you can (sort of) play online with others.
How to Unlock OlliOlli World Multiplayer Modes
In case you’re wondering, OlliOlli World multiplayer doesn’t work in the traditional sense of teaming up with friends or people online in real time. Instead, it’s asynchronous multiplayer, where you’re mostly battling against other people’s scores but you can still see their avatars and usernames.
There are two multiplayer modes, called The Gnarvana League and The Gnarvana Portal. You can unlock them by completing all the main levels in Sunshine Valley. Once you’re done, you’ll meet one of the Skate Godz, who will open the doors to Gnarvana.
If you’re powering through the levels, it will only take a couple hours to reach. The first world serves mostly as a tutorial, but the last few levels start to branch out quite a bit, so it’s up to you if you want to spend some extra time or just go back to replay them later.
How to Play Online – OlliOlli World Multiplayer
There are four instances of asynchronous OlliOlli World multiplayer available, two of them being actual game modes while the rest are more off-hand:
- The Gnarvana League: These are daily events within groups of nine randomly selected players, competing against their scores in a leaderboard throughout seasonal leagues. The higher you rank, the more cosmetic prizes you can win. Once you’re in a group, you can play unlimited times until the 24 hour period concludes. Only your best score counts, so don’t worry about failing.
- The Gnarvana Portal: A fairly simple level creator where you can tweak the style, difficulty, and length of a scenario, and then let the game create it for you. It also generates a postcode, which you can share with others. Alternatively, you can jump into other peoples’ postcodes and save them as favorites.
- Rivals: After you complete a level in the campaign, another player’s score will appear as an optional Rival to surpass. This is purely for competition purposes, but hey, if you want to prove you’re better than a stranger online, knock yourself out.
- Loading Screens: A detail more than anything, but you’ll see random avatars in loading screens doing tricks, along with their usernames — see if you spot someone familiar!

It’s unfortunate that there isn’t traditional multiplayer in OlliOlli World, but it doesn’t feel any less alive without it. I’ve been having fun trying to beat Rivals’ highscores in a few levels, and while I don’t think I’m good enough to compete in The Gnarvana League just yet, it’s only a matter of time until I see a cosmetic I really want as a prize.
Once that happens, I’m sure I’ll end up devoting myself to OlliOlli World while ignoring all other responsibilities. But they, if they’re in the same boat as I, make sure to check the tips guide we have on the site.
