Destiny 2 Season of the Lost is here and we’re heading back to The Dreaming City. Acting as a prologue to The Witch Queen expansion, this season revolves around freeing Savathun from her worm god to save Osiris from her clutches. Along with a new seasonal activity, players can also obtain new armor, weapons, exotics, and in-game consumables. A new addition this season is Stasis Legendary weapons which can roll with unique perks tied specifically to this subclass. While the Vulpecuila hand cannon is certainly the most desired, players shouldn’t sleep on the Fractethyst shotgun as it can be pretty solid perks.
How to Get the Fractethyst
You can earn Fractethyst in a variety of different ways, almost all of which involve spending Parallax Trajectory. The first is as a reward at the end of seasonal story missions, which are appearing weekly However, it appears that you can basically get any seasonal armor or weapon as a reward, so your chances are pretty slim. Another method is by opening the reward chance whenever you finish the Astral Alignment activity. Keep in mind, you will need to spend 150 Parallax Trajectory to receive a seasonal reward. You can unlock The Way Forward upgrade to give you a 10% chance at not consuming any Parallax Trajectory upon opening this chest. The Fractethyst can also be given out as a reward via a rank-up package at the Wayfinder’s Compass.
However, the best method for consistently farming the Fractethyst is to focus Umbral Engrams at the H.E.L.M. There are three different Focused Umbral Engrams you can use to possibly earn Vulpecula as a reward. The first two, Engram of the Found and Tools of the Lost, can be found in Tier I. In Tier 2, you can choose the Wayfinder’s Concussion to narrow the loot pool down to just the Fractethyst and Canis Major. Unfortunately, there is no tier 3 engram for this weapon, so you’ll need to roll the dice with Wayfinder’s Concussion.
Fractethyst God Rolls
Fractethyst PVE God Roll
- Smoothbore or Smallbore
- Assault Mag
- Full Auto Trigger System or Lead From Gold
- Trench Barrel]
Even though shotguns are currently not the go-to weapons for PVE, the Fractethyst still has a decent PVE god roll you can hunt for. In the first slot, you will want either Smoothbore or Smallbore to increase the weapon’s range. As for the magazine, while you can use Tactical Mag to give yourself an additional round and increased reload speed, I always prefer Assault Mag on shotguns. This perk gives us +15 to stability and bumps up our fire rate, which synergizes beautifully with our primary perk combination.
As for the primary perk, your best options are either Full Auto Trigger System or Lead From Gold. If you can get a roll with Assault Mag, then I definitely suggest Full Auto since you’ll have an increased fire rate. However, if you are picking up a more traditional magazine like Tactical Mag, then Lead From Gold is a solid alternative. In the last slot, the only really great option is Trench Barrel. Even though it got nerfed over a year ago, it’s still quite devastating — especially in a melee-focused build.
Fractethyst PVP God Roll
- Full Choke or Smoothbore
- Accurized Rounds
- Quickdraw
- Opening Shot
When it comes to PVP, there’s really only one solid roll that’s worth hunting down. In the barrel, you’ll want either Smoothbore or Full Choke. Both give us a great range boost, which is honestly all that matters when it comes to shotguns in the Crucible. Unsurprisingly, Accurized Rounds is in the magazine slot since it also increases our weapon’s effective range. Finally, the two primary perks are Quickdraw and Opening Shot. The former will let us draw this shotgun exceptionally fast and the latter ensures that our first round will almost always hit the target. While you can swap Quickdraw for Slideshot, the nerf to sliding doesn’t make it the best option of the two.
