Destiny 2 Beyond Light Stasis Guide - How to Unlock Stasis Subclass

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is finally here after months and months of waiting. Acting as the next major chapter in this FPS/RPG hybrid, players will embark on a journey to Europa to battle against a Fallen leader called Eramis and learn more about the true nature of the Darkness. This expansion includes new characters, missions, endgame activities, weapons, exotics, and enemy types. Yet, the biggest draw for many users will be the new Stasis subclass, which is the first new element introduced into Destiny since the franchise released. Thankfully, obtaining these new abilities isn’t too difficult since it’s directly tied to Beyond Light’s main campaign. Here’s how and when you will unlock your shiny new subclass.

How to Unlock Stasis

Unsurprisingly, Stasis is tied to the main campaign of Beyond Light. As you progress through the story you will eventually be beckoned by the Darkness to seek it out. This will take a little under an hour to unlock the first step of the quest. After a cutscene, go speak to the Exo Stranger to receive a Splinter of Darkness. She will tell you to visit the pyramid in the distance, so head there to start the next mission and your journey towards wielding the darkness. When you arrive at the pyramid ship, interact with the podium above you to commune with it. Doing so will cause it to vanish and task you with a new quest elsewhere in Europa.

Your next portion of the quest will see you wielding Stasis for the first time. All of your abilities will have a very fast cooldown, letting you shatter, freeze, and crystalize the waves of Vex swarming you. Unfortunately, this is just a taste and you’ll lose the powers once the enemies have been killed. You will have to repeat this three more times and defeat Eramis at the end of the campaign. Once she has been vanquished, return to the Exo Stranger and then the pyramid alter to finally receive your new Stasis subclass. This will take you around 3-5 hours depending on your skill level and how sidetracked you get exploring Europa.

Again, Stasis is only unlocked once you’ve beaten the main Beyond Light campaign.

More Destiny 2 Beyond Light:

Unlike other classes, Stasis can be augmented and changed depending on which Aspects and Fragments you have equipped. Aspects are class-specific abilities that you can use to enhance your existing Stasis abilities. For example, the Frostpulse Aspect causes your Rift to freeze enemies around you when you cast it. This allows you to quickly immobilize any enemies attempting to swarm your position, giving you time to heal and destroy them. Inversely, Fragments are usable across all three classes and provide buffs to your abilities or damage, but you might take a penalty to one of your core stats.
