Destiny 2 Stasis Guide - How to Unlock Different Stasis Grenades

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is finally here after months and months of waiting. Acting as the next major chapter in this FPS/RPG hybrid, players will embark on a journey to Europa to battle against a Fallen leader called Eramis and learn more about the true nature of the Darkness. This expansion includes new characters, missions, endgame activities, weapons, exotics, and enemy types. Yet, the biggest draw for many users will be the new Stasis subclass, which is the first new element introduced into Destiny since the franchise released. Even though obtaining the subclass itself isn’t difficult, you will need to jump through a lot of extra hoops to unlock the different grenades and abilities tied to Stasis.

How to Unlock Stasis Grenades

Unlocking the other Stasis grenades is tied to completing the Born in Darkness quests. Available right after you gain Stasis, speak with the Exo Stranger to unlock the first mission. You will need to complete a bunch of small tasks, before speaking to her after beating a Lost Sector. This can be pretty tricky, so I recommend being an absolute minimum Light of 1160 before attempting this, otherwise, you will have an extremely difficult time. After completing the first Born in Darkness quest, she will offer Part 2 which upon completing unlocks the very powerful Duskfield Grenades.

  • Completing Born in Darkness Part 2 – Duskfield Grenade
  • Completing Born in Darkness Part 3 – Coldsnap Grenade

Part 2 isn’t that difficult, as you’ll just be doing more busywork around Europa.  One tricky aspect of both Part 2 and Part 3 is you’ll need to complete Lost Sectors. These are 1200+ activities that will absolutely cut you down top size if you’re under-leveled. I suggest being a minimum of 1170 Light before tackling these. You’ll also need to hunt down members of Eramis’ following in the Braytech labs, but these are much easier boss fights so long as you clear the room of smaller tier enemies first.

More Destiny 2 Beyond Light:

Where I suspect frustration will set in is during Born in Darkness Part 3’s Gambit portion, as this mode can be pretty difficult at times to get Stasis kills. What I recommend is never invading and only focusing on killing the normal enemies that spawn. Don’t waste your abilities on Blockers, as there are rarely many of them and most can tank a Stasis ability. Instead, use your grenades, melee, and Super on the normal mobs that spawn in each arena. This may take more than three games depending on how well your team is doing and if you are regenerating your abilities quickly. Bad Juju is a solid choice here since it can pretty much ensure that you’ll get your Super before a Primeval has spawned.

There are only two grenades to earn for Stasis, with each of these taking roughly 1-2 hours depending on your skill level. I suggest grabbing other quests as well since you can complete some steps simultaneously while you’re exploring Europa.
