Bungie’s latest This Week in Destiny blog addressed the infamous crafting bug that took over Destiny 2 in the middle of September. To commemorate “The Craftening,” Bungie rewards those who played Destiny 2 between September 15 from 9 AM PDT to September 21 up until 10 AM PDT with an emblem. Players can claim this emblem in Season 23.
The emblem features the art of the Relic crafting table at The Enclave alongside a blue icon that shows up in the UI when players craft a weapon.
The crafting glitch allowed players to mix and match corrupt weapon perks at the Relic on Mars to make ridiculously powerful weapons. Players were entering Trials of Osiris that week for easy PVP kills, while others ran endgame PVE content to decimate bosses. This included players crafting Osteo Striga’s Exotic trait onto weapons like the Calus Mini-Tool SMG or Dead Man’s Tale’s Cranial Spike Traits onto the BXR Battler pulse rifle. Using this glitch, players were also able to incorporate an Aggressive Frame shotgun in something like the Ammit-AR4 auto rifle, which became a popular crafting choice for players and one of the most used weapons that week.
Bungie didn’t take immediate action against the glitch, but announced that it would work towards fixing it. The developer encouraged players to take advantage of the bug and reassured them that the glitch was not a bannable offense through the Bungie Help Twitter account, too. Then finally, The Craftening glitch came to a complete halt on September 21 and all “illegal” weapons players crafted returned to their original state.
In the past, Bungie has commemorated memorable glitches by offering emblems for the Telesto glitch in Season of Plunder and the infamous “Laser Tag weekend” with the overly powerful Prometheus Lens bug.
