The new Stardew Valley update is almost upon us, as Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone commemorates the hit indie game's eighth anniversary by revealing the 1.6 patch's long-awaited release date. Previously, the solo developer announced some of the exciting update's features and stated that the patch would be much larger than he had originally intended for it to be.
With all sorts of brand-new content to get through, including crafting recipes, dialogue, expanded skill trees, items, late-game additions, multiple festivals, snazzy outfits, and more, this Stardew Valley update brings some mind-bogglingly big changes to the game.
Whether you're most looking forward to playing with up to eight pals in the revamped multiplayer mode or are simply thrilled to explore the new farm type, you'll want to mark your calendar for 1.6. According to the creator's new announcement, those of us playing the game on PC can expect to hop back onto our farms and experience the update's fresh content on Tuesday, March 19. If you don't play on PC, don't worry. The dev says that news on other platforms' 1.6 launch date is on the way.
Alongside his announcement, ConcernedApe celebrates some of the farming genre gem's achievements, including the official Stardew Valley concert tour which is currently underway and the recent release of the game's cookbook. The dev also reveals that he has now sold over a whopping 30 million copies of Stardew Valley, making it one of the most-played video games of all time right behind behemoth titles such as Minecraft and PUBG: Battlegrounds.
ConcernedApe closes his announcement, saying he's going "back to the grind." The good news should only keep flowing from the creator following Stardew Valley update 1.6, especially for those of us looking forward to the upcoming release of Haunted Chocolatier. While we don't know when ConcernedApe's next project is dropping just yet, we do know that he paused work on it to finish Stardew Valley's patch.
Back in April, the dev revealed 1.6 and explained that he's "taking a break from Haunted Chocolatier" to work on the update instead. He also clarified that following the Stardew Valley update, he'd go "back" to work on his other game.
