With the Destiny 2 seasonal story arc concluded, the Solstice event has officially returned to give you more goodies to grind for. Similar to previous Solstice events, players will be able to upgrade the armor they earn to unlock unique glows that change depending on your subclass. The EAZ activity returns, but with a noticeable twist. Instead of just killing enemies within a time limit, players are tasked with igniting and building a massive bonfire.
Of course, the biggest draw is improving your gear which is now done by earning three new currencies tied to Solstice. One of these is Silver Leaves, which are the most common of all the new materials and are used to create Silver Ash. Here’s how to earn this new event item and the best methods for farming it.
How to Get Silver Leaves
You can get Silver Leaves by completing almost any activity in Destiny 2 while wearing Candescent armor. This item will be handed out after you speak to Eva in the Tower when you first arrive. This item is used to obtain Silver Ash via the new Bonfire Bash activity in the EAZ. Given Silver Ash is used to reroll your armor so it has high stats, it’s critical that you’re constantly farming Silver Leaves if you’re looking for a specific stat distribution of your gear.
While you can play any activity and earn Silver Leaves, Heroic Public Events definitely appear to be the fastest. Upon completion, players will earn 4-5 Silver Leaves, while finishing a longer activity like Strike rewards 6. After running some tests in different Public Events with different amounts of Candescent armor on, I can confirm you will earn more if you have the entire set equipped. While this isn’t ideal for those who have perfected their builds, it will guarantee you earn more Silver Leaves as you farm. For example, when I only wore a Candescent chest piece I earned only 3 Silver Leaves while a full set gave me between 4-5.
Because of this, I strongly recommend you Public Event hop to quickly obtain a lot. One of the best areas is the EDZ, which almost always has a Public Event about to start, many of which can be finished in under five minutes with minimal effort. This will also help you complete the Event Ticket, Solstice Jubilee which asks you to earn this currency by completing Public Events. Alternatively, Mayhem is another great option since these matches are over relatively fast and you’ll earn a decent amount of Silver Leaves. However, it does appear you’ll get less if you lose, but the amount you earn could be a range, not a static number.
Keep in mind, that the Silver Leaves to Silver Ash conversation rate is not 1-to-1. I turned in 41 Silver Leaves at the end of a Bonfire Bash and earned 95 Silver Ash. So you’ll need to grind about 20 Silver Leaves if you want 40 Silver Ash to re-roll a piece of gear for higher stats! Just make sure to have one of the stat armor mods equipped on your Ghost to help you get a specific roll.
