Animal Crossing: New Horizons Wisp Guide - How to Find Spirit Pieces

Island’s haunted. Yeah.

Grab your shotgun and get the hell out there. Island’s haunted. Okay, maybe don’t get a gun but the island is legitimately haunted. There’s a ghost named Wisp who roams your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, and he’s got a quest for you. After you encounter the spirit, you’re going to need to run around your island to find Wisp’s spirit pieces.

How to Find Wisp

Wisp will spawn on your island randomly, in the evenings. In our own experience, we’ve only encountered him after 8pm. He can appear anywhere on your island, so be sure to look everywhere, both high and low. If you need a ladder to access the upper portions of your island, we have a guide to help you get one!

How to Find Spirit Pieces

When you talk to Wisp, you’ll scare him so badly he explodes. Literally. He shoots five pieces of his spirit across the island, and then tasks you with finding and catching his spirit pieces using your trusty net. Poor ghost friend, you should definitely help him.

There are five spirit pieces in all all around your island. They make a small, spectral noise when you’re near them, so they’re relatively easy to find. Spirit pieces aren’t usable for anything else, so once you collect all five, return them to Wisp.

If you aren’t sure what they look like, refer to the picture above. They spawn randomly and aren’t tied to a single area. If you see one as you’re going into a building, for example, it’ll be gone when you come back out. Don’t wander around the area it was because it isn’t guaranteed to spawn there again.

How to Get a Reward From Wisp

Once you give all five pieces back to Wisp, he’ll offer you a gift for your services. The first time he offers you something, he’ll give you the choice between Something New and Something Expensive. The items you receive are random in both categories so don’t fret if you can’t decide.

It is worth noting that Wisp’s definition of expensive might be a bit different from yours. In our experiences thus far, “expensive” seems to mean the item is worth a few thousand Bells at most. There’s likely some rarity involved, so it could be possible to earn items worth around 10,000 Bells, but no one knows for certain.

For the most part, we recommend always choosing Something New. That way you’re consistently building our your collection of items and can purchase them from the ATM in Resident Services. What good does yet another clown wallpaper do anyway? The darn thing is only worth 1,500 Bells!

And that’s it! Hopefully this helps you get settled into your new Animal Crossing: New Horizons island! Much like the game itself, check back throughout the day to see what’s new here on Fanbyte. We already have guides for how to move your tent and how to get across rivers using either the vaulting pole or constructing bridges.
