The next event for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is already here, so pack your bags because we’re going on a trip to a mysterious unnamed island. Dubbed “May Day,” in this event, players will get to pick up their tickets starting tomorrow and visit an island for exclusive rewards and a special maze. This event also appears to re-introduce a staple character of the Animal Crossing franchise, Rover. Similar to Nature Day, this is a short event so if you want to take part make sure to spend some time on your island the next few days.
(Author’s Note: At the time of writing this May Day hasn’t gone live yet. However, we will update this guide with relevant information once the event is underway.)
When Does May Day End?
If you want to take part in the May Day event you will only have until May 7th before the event is over. This gives you only one week to enjoy the new content, so make sure to carve out some time to play and pick up whatever exclusive rewards are available.

How to Get May Day Tickets
When you boot up Animal Crossing: New Horizons tomorrow, head over to Tom Nook and speak with him. He will give you a quick rundown of the event and then offer you a single May Day Ticket. This item is used to travel to the new island, so you’ll have to hand it over to Gulliver at the airport. You can only get one May Day ticket a day, meaning if you cannot complete the maze then you’ll need to wait a full real day. For those who mess up in the maze, just use Rescue Services to reset this challenge.
Is Rover Coming Back?
Yes, sort of. Rover is back during the May Day event, but he will not become a permanent part of your island. Instead, this is more a quest appearance for now.
What Are the Special Rewards?
There are two major rewards for completing the May Day maze. The first is Rover’s Briefcase, which is a new piece of furniture he will give you for completing the maze and talking to him. The second is 27,000 Bells in Bell Vouchers, which can be found in two rooms after you beat the maze. The first is right next to Rover and the second requires you to run around the maze’s perimeter on the left until you reach a location with three rocks. If you saved your excess fruit, you’ll have just enough to break the rocks and grab the vouchers!
That’s all we know for now. We’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as the event goes live. In the meantime, go finish up your Nature Day activities! Leif and the associated event items will be going away on May 4! And if you’re reading this before the clock rolls over to May, make sure to check out what bugs and fish are leaving. While you’re there you can also learn which creatures to set your sights on that haven’t been available before!
