Animal Crossing New Horizons Fireworks Guide - How to Get & Use Fireworks

The next event for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has arrived and it’s all about blowing things up! Revolving around fireworks, this event sees the shifty art dealer Redd set up shop in the town square. Players can then enter a raffle to win fabulous prizes and consumable items. These range from fireworks to balloons to an adorable fan. Thankfully, entertain the raffle itself is remarkably easy,  but what you will win is completely random. However, unless you’re willing to jump through time, you will need to wait a few days to even participate in Redd’s celebration.

Here’s how to get fireworks and when Redd will appear during the festival:

How to Get Fireworks

During the Fireworks Show, you can visit Redd every Sunday throughout August. This means there are a total of five days that this character will appear. Unlike other events, the Fireworks Show only happens on a single day every week, so make sure to plan accordingly. Lucky for you, this event is locked to real-world time, meaning you can use your fancy time machine to jump to the correct dates.

Here is every day that Redd appears:

  • August 2nd, 2020
  • August 9th, 2020
  • August 16th, 2020
  • August 23rd, 2020
  • August 30th, 2020

Additionally, Redd’s stand will only be open at 7 PM. While you can talk to him during the day, he will inform your Villager to return once the festival has actually started. Once the designated time is reached, go to the town square and interact with his booth. You will need to pay 500 Bells to pull a random ticket out of a box for one of 12 prizes. What you get is entirely random, so if you’re looking for something specific it may take multiple attempts. If you get something you don’t want, just try the box again until you eventually get that one prize you’re looking for. Here’s a complete list of everything you can earn from Redd’s booth along with the corresponding number:

  1. Red Sparkler
  2. Blue Sparkler
  3. Fountain Firework
  4. Bubble Blower
  5. Uchiwa Fan
  6. Pinwheel
  7. Tweeter
  8. Blue Balloon
  9. Red Balloon
  10. Yellow Balloon
  11. Green Balloon
  12. Pink Balloon

If you don’t want to spend any money, there’s a chance that one of your fellow residents will give you a gift during the celebration. When I arrived in the town square Pashmina gave me a one-time use sparkler to use. You can also visit Isabella who will give you either a Star, Flower, Bulb, or Heart Bopper to wear on your head each time you visit her during the festival’s different days. They don’t sell for much, so you might as well keep them as memorabilia from the event. There is no new furniture or outfits available during the Fireworks Show, this is solely about the various consumables and knick-knacks you can win. To use your fireworks, just open up your inventory and select the item. Your Villager will then pull them out and ignite these

Finally, a secret DIY item was added into the game for those who manage to find a gold nugget. Picking one of these up from smacking a rock will unlock the King Tut headdress which looks absolutely killer. So if you’re a big fan of Amonkhet or Lucky then this is the item for you!

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons fireworks event runs until August 30th.
