We’re well and truly into Season of Opulence in Destiny 2Guardians. If you, like me, are desperately trying to catch up on everything that’s going on in the wake of E3, look no further. Here’s everything you need to know this week in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Season of Opulence — Iron Banner

Lord Saladin is back with the Crucible Iron Banner event this week, and there’s a lot of new reasons to jump in. Season of Opulence has added new Iron Banner weapons like the slug-firing shotgun Gunnora’s Axe. Additionally, there’s a new quest called Test of Strength. Completing this questline rewards players with parts of a new Iron Banner armor that is effectively the event’s Year 1 armor, which is even compatible with Year 1 ornaments.

If you’re trying to get the new Iron Banner weapons, you should spend your tokens early. Once you unlock armor parts via the quest, they’ll be added to the drop pool, meaning you’ll be less likely to get new weapons from turning in tokens or completing matches.

Bungie’s made a few other tweaks to Iron Banner for season 7 as well:

  • Iron Banner packages have been updated.
      • Iron Banner Armor may now roll with enhanced perks.
      • New weapons have also been added to Iron Banner packages and have a higher chance to drop on the first package you redeem.
  • New Iron Banner shaders, an emblem, and a Sparrow may be earned through objectives that must be completed during Season of Opulence.
  • Iron Banner bounties will continue to grant rewards and Iron Banner Tokens.
      • Iron Banner bounties no longer unlock direct purchase for Iron Banner gear, as it is now acquired directly through the Iron Banner quest.

Finally, Iron Banner will great increased Valor this week — so get out there and start hunting.

Destiny 2 Eververse Changes

They won’t be coming into force for a grip, but Bungie announce some upcoming changes to Eververse today. The short version is that all Eververse armor is being converted into “Universal Ornaments” which can be used on any Legendary armor moving forward. Additionally, dismantling Eververse items will generate Legendary Shards rather than Bright Dust.

Destiny 2 Menagerie Guide

Destiny 2 Season of Opulence — Menagerie

Have you tried your hand at Calus’ Menagerie yet? If not, we have a Menagerie guide ready for you. This week sees the addition of a third boss to the six-player challenge, the gigantic Vex Hydra Pagouri. If you haven’t played around in Menagerie much, give it a shot! It’s a fun, matchmade activity with no failure conditions. That’s right — the worst case scenario is that a run takes longer. You might want to get your light level up, though, as some of the enemies in there hit pretty hard.

If you’re looking for the Truth rocket launcher, be sure to check out our Truth quest guide. That questline is going to require that you complete an Ascendant Challenge, which brings me to our final item for this week.

Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge — June 18, 2019

This was the final Ascendant Challenge introduced to Destiny 2. Thankfully, it’s also one of the most fun (some might also say most difficult). You can find it in the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector in Rheasilvia. The portal is directly above and behind the Lost Sector chest at the end of the area.

After you spawn into the Ascendant plane Toland (the floating spark of light in the darkness) will beckon you as usual—but a bunch of big knights will spawn, too. Don’t fight, just run. This challenge is actually a race against the knights who will constantly hound you as you try to run through the area, while avoiding enemies and boop-walls.

Just keep following the linear path. Avoid obstacles and enemies until you come to one last jumping puzzle. Traverse the rotating platforms to reach final boss arena. It’s a small platform where a boss knight and a bunch of adds will spawn. Focus down the knight to finish the challenge and earn your loot.
