PSA: One of Destiny 2's Best Exotics Just Got a Secret Buff

The Stasis update passively buffs the burst damage potential of Conditional Finality.

Stasis has received changes in Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish update which has resulted in a passive buff to the burst damage potential of the raid Exotic Conditional Finality. As part of the Stasis updates in Season of the Wish, special ammo weapons now do 10% extra damage to frozen enemies, up from 5%. This change was made to make shattering frozen enemies a little easier. As pointed out by Reddit user “GrizzlyUSA12," Conditional Finality, which can be acquired from the Root of Nightmares raid, particularly benefits from this change.

This is because of Conditional Finality’s intrinsic perk, Split Decision, and its Exotic trait, Paracausal Pellets. Split Decision makes one shot of Conditional Finality’s two round magazine deal Stasis damage and the other shot deal Solar damage. Paracausal Pellets allow Conditional Finality to freeze enemies if they are hit by most of the Stasis pellets, and Ignite enemies hit by most of the Solar pellets. The result is that as long as an enemy is frozen by the first shot of Conditional Finality, its second shot will do 5% extra damage and Ignite the enemy.

A 5% increase to one shot might not sound like a huge buff, but this will also increase the large chunk of damage from the Solar ignition by 5%. This is a sizable buff, especially considering that Conditional Finality was already an incredibly strong Exotic, with lots of Champion staggering potential due to its ability to freeze and Ignite. On top of this, the seasonal artifact contains another way to increase the damage to frozen targets through the perk “Torch,” which grants extra damage to enemies affected by Strand or Stasis debuffs while Radiant.

While Conditional Finality particularly benefits from these changes, due to the increased Ignition damage, other strong special ammo weapons that freeze targets also stand to gain. This means that everyone’s Chill Clip Riptide is a little stronger, as is the alternate fire of the Exotic Ager’s Scepter.

It is yet to be seen whether these buffs will result in builds capitalizing on the increased damage, but it may be worth experimenting with. For those interested in further buildcrafting in Season of the Wish, you can check out our information on the Stasis changes, and the Exotic armor updates.
