The Dead Man’s Tale was renewed in Destiny 2's Season of the Witch. Not only is this Exotic scout rifle back for players to collect, but now a craftable weapon. Prepare yourself for some customization!
How to Get Dead Man’s Tale in Destiny 2
Back from the Destiny Content Vault, players can access Presage — along with some other Exotic missions of the past — in the Exotic Mission Rotator. To get the Dead Man’s Tale you will have to complete the Presage Exotic quest on Normal difficulty. Bungie introduced this feature in the Season of the Witch for players to complete Exotic missions and farm their rewards.
You can access this mission through the Legends section in the Destinations tab. Once you complete said mission, you will receive the Deepsight Resonance red-border version of Dead Man’s Tale. Extract five Deepsight Resonance and you will then be able to craft the weapon at the Mars Enclave, in Savathun’s Throne World.
Dead Man’s Tale God Rolls
Craftable weapons feature a unique weapon level which is independent of the weapon’s power level. Each level achieved will unlock specific traits for you to craft at the Enclave by using crafting materials such as Enhancement Cores, Prisms, and Resonant and Harmonic Alloys. The more you use your crafted weapon to defeat enemies and complete objectives, the faster you will level it up.
Dead Man’s Tale PVE God Roll
- Arrowhead Break (obtainable at crafting Level 2)
- High-Caliber Rounds (Level 5)
- Vorpal Weapon (Level 10)
- Fitted Stock (Level 4)
The Dead Man’s Tale has great PVE capabilities. High-Caliber Rounds will slightly improve your range while also knocking down targets even further than normal. Vorpal Weapon will grant a damage boost toward bosses, vehicles, and Guardians using their Super ability. Finally, the Fitted Stock further increases the weapon’s stability, handling, and recoil. All of this will provide you with a weapon more than capable of ad-clear as well as dealing with stronger bosses.
Dead Man’s Tale PVP God Roll
- Fluted Barrel (Level 8)
- Ricochet Rounds (Level 6)
- Moving Target (Level 9)
- Composite Stock (Level 3)
The Dead Man’s Tale also works well in PVP, thanks to its 120 RPM, and the Killing Wind perk will increase its mobility, range, and handling after dealing final blows. Adding Ricochet Rounds to this scout rifle makes the weapon’s projectiles ricochet off surfaces while also providing a range and stability boost. Moving Target will increase your move speed and target acquisition while aiming down the sights — this is especially useful for encounters in the Crucible. Composite Stock will increase the stability and handling speed of this weapon, which increases your chances of surviving other Guardians.
