My fellow Warlocks, Joey Chip here with some bad news: papa Bungie has once again seen fit to place us at the bottom of the PVP hierarchy in Destiny 2. The days of overpowered Nova Warp and Handheld Supernova are but a distant memory, and entering the Crucible is now a grueling test of our commitment to our ways. While Titans and Hunters partied and worked out, we built our knowledge. And look what it got us — an endless series of deaths at the hands of Shatterdives and uppercuts.
But all is not lost. Some of the old ways are still powerful, and while we may envy our Stasis-wielding brethren their deadly abilities, we can always turn back to the Light. If you want to survive in the frigid wasteland of today’s Crucible, this is the best — and some might say only — way to do it.
1. Chaos Reach
Remember Chaos Reach? It may not block out half your screen when you cast it anymore, but it’s still a pretty neat Super. It splits the difference between a roaming and one-shot ability, giving you a bit of flexibility in aiming with an excellent time-to-kill. You can even shut it off before it’s done to save some energy. It’s no ice tornado, but it still erases Guardians as good as it ever did. Plus, the Attunement of Control gets you Pulsewave, which boosts your speed when you’re critically wounded. And let’s face it, you’re a Warlock — you’re going to be getting critically wounded a lot.
2. Geomag Stabilizers
You like casting Chaos Reach, right? You want to cast it as much as possible? Well, Geomags are required attire. You might have to build your entire outfit around them, but being able to top off your super energy when you hit 80% of your bar means you’ll be firing more energy beams than a Dragon Ball Z character. And hey, it’s not like the competition for Warlock Exotics in PVP is that strong anyway. What else are you going to wear, Transversive Steps? Ophidian Aspect? I don’t think so.

3. Max Intelligence
Some people think stats like Mobility and Recovery are cool. They’re wrong. You know what’s cool? Casting Chaos Reach. You know how you do that? By maxing your Intelligence stat. Hell, go over 100. Who cares? The extra points may not do anything mechanically, but they could have a psychological effect on your opponents. “Who is this mad Warlock with 104 Intelligence,” they’ll wonder. “They must be really confident to waste stats like that, I’d better run away if I see them.”
4. Weapons
I don’t know, Dead Man’s Tale is pretty neat. Pulse Rifles are good this season, too, or you could roll with a hand cannon if you want to get meta about it. Guns don’t matter when you’ve got a delete button.
Hope this helps all of you Warlocks out there. Maybe next season we’ll make a pact with the Darkness to learn how to Dodge.
