How to Get Laurels in Destiny 2 During the Guardian Games

Laurels serve as a material exclusive to the Guardian Games in Destiny 2, meaning that you’re going to encounter them throughout the duration of the event.

In essence, you can get Destiny 2 laurels in two primary ways:

  • Defeating enemies using your class abilities
  • Defeating especially powerful combatants (those with a yellow bar) with your Guardian Games class item equipped

Class abilities refer to all of your usual skills — grenades, melee attack, and your special ability of course. As soon as you use one of them and take an enemy or more down, you’re going to see drops on the floor. Walk over them to automatically pick them up, and you should see the notification on the right side of the screen. If you’re wondering why they have different colors, that’s related to the class that made the kill, so it varies across Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters.

As for defeating powerful combatants with your Guardian Games class item equipped, you obtain said item the first time you talk to Eva Levante to kick start the Best in Class quest. Make sure to have it equipped at all times and you should be good. If you happen to dismantle it by mistake or you just want a different one, Eva has them on sale for 1,000 Glimmer each, which is super cheap.

In terms of frequency, you’re going to be seeing Destiny 2 laurels pretty much all the time. Missions that require you to gather between 50 to 100 laurels can be completed pretty much within a single Strike. Both your and your teammates’ class abilities are going to make enemies drop the material, so it’s only a matter of making sure you’re picking them up as it’s not done automatically, and you should be set. You can expect between 1 or 2 laurels from each regular enemy, while more powerful mobs can drop anything from 5 to 10 at a time. Again, make sure to have the Guardian Games class item equipped to maximize this.

You’re likely going to need laurels often during the Guardian Games, as several of the quests have at least one step related to collecting a certain amount. But at the very least, it’s an easy enough task, especially compared to previous events and seasons where certain materials would take fucking forever to drop. Best of luck out there, and keep an eye out on your active missions so you’re always doing the most out of each activity!
