2022’s first Destiny 2 Guardian Games event is here as part of The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen. Pitting Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters against one another once more, the Guardian Games present all sorts of features for both newcomers and veterans who are participating once more, from a new SMG called The Title to cosmetics, medallions to hoard, and much more. As part of many of the missions you’ll encounter, you’re gonna stumble upon the Top of Class quest. This guide explains how the steps and how to get the Destiny 2 Heir Apparent 2022 during the Guardian Games.
How to Get the Destiny 2 Heir Apparent 2022
To start Top of Class, you first need to complete the Best of Class quest. Right after you pick up The Title SMG, Eva Levante is going to give you Top of Class. That is all you need to start, and thankfully, the tasks ahead aren’t that hard — only time-consuming.
Step 1: Earn 50 Laurels
For your first step, you need need to earn 50 Laurels while playing during the Guardian Games event. Laurels are colored motes tied to your class and are generated by getting kills with grenades, fully charged melee attacks, and Supers. The only exception to this rule is if you’re playing Gambit or Crucible, as a fixed amount of Laurels are rewarded at the end.
Additionally, it’s recommended for you to wear your Guardian Games 2022 Class Item to generate extra Laurels when defeating especially powerful combatants.
Step 2: Defeat 100 Combatants With a Machine Gun
The second step requires you to kill 100 combatants with any machine gun in the Daily Focus playlist. This is a rotating playlist that cycles through the core activities and is exclusive to Guardian Games. Because of this, there’s nowhere you can really go to farm this section. Instead, I recommend waiting until Strikes are tied to the Daily Focus playlist, as this is far and away the easiest way to quickly amass 100 kills. Even though Guardians will count more towards your progress, you’ll still be fighting people for the Heavy ammo in Crucible and Gambit. It’s much easier to just go through a Strike instead to get your hands on the Destiny 2 Heir Apparent 2022 weapon as soon as possible.
That being said, even running Strikes exclusively, it’s going to take you quite a few runs. Heavy ammo is as scarce as ever, and unless you’re lucky, you’re going to have two instances of heavy ammo during a Strike: Right at the beginning, and closer to the boss. Depending on the Strike, the encounter against the boss might go down quickly, which reduces your chances of fighting mobs to get a few more combatants for the task.

I recommend using the Grand Overture machine gun to get the Heir Apparent. It has a magazine size of 99 by default, shoots fast, and deals quite a punch. As such, you can focus on any small enemies around you while you still have ammo and try to one-hit as many of them as you can. Keep at it, and before you know it, the Heir Apparent will be all yours.
