Today, developer Bungie announced in their Lightfall reveal stream t that King’s Fall will be returning to Destiny 2 in Season 18. Previously in Destiny, this is the second reprised raid making its way into Destiny 2. For the unfamiliar, King’s Fall launched with the Taken King expansion and is set on the title villain’s ship, the Dreadnought. Broken up across several encounters, King’s Fall was praised for its terrific loot, great boss encounters, and unique mechanics. If you want to hop into this raid right away, it will be available to all players on August 26th at 10 a.m. PT.
With the addition of this returning raid, it will be interesting to see how Bungie adapts it to the new sandbox. Previously, Bungie updated a lot of the pain points in the Vault of Glass to make it a more complex and enjoyable experience. I also expect to see the exotic, Touch of Malice, make its return. A popular choice in the original game, Touch of Malice siphoned the user’s health for increased damage. This resulted in an exceptionally deadly weapon that actually got nerfed due to its destructive capabilities.
I am curious about what the legendary weapons will be and how they will be modified. Previously, these weapons had a perk called Cocoon which is essentially Destiny 2’s version of Auto-Loading Holster. Given this perk isn’t terribly unique anymore, I cannot wait to see if these guns get a unique raid perk like Rewind Rounds in Vault of Glass. Additionally, Bungie seems to only pick a few of the weapons originally available instead of making the entire suite available.
Additionally, for those looking to earn the Day One emblem remember you’ll need to complete this raid twice. This is because there will be a series of challenges tied to this raid that is unlocked upon your first completion. You’ll need to finish the raid normally and then a second time with all of the challenges active. Thankfully, the Contest Mode Power level will be set at 1560, making it accessible to anyone who hit the Power cap last season.
Destiny 2: Season of the Plunder goes live at 10 p.m. ET today.
