Savathun is almost here, which can only mean that Destiny 2’s highly anticipated expansion has been released. Titled The Witch Queen, this expansion has players finally confronting one of the franchise’s most popular villains in her own throne world. Not only is this DLC introducing a new story, but there are a ton of weapons, armor, exotics, consumables, and activities. The Witch Queen also marks the release of the Void 3.0 update which drastically reworks the void subclass and weapon crafting, allowing you to make your weapon of choice.
Of course, the biggest loot additions are the various exotic weapons and armor pieces. At launch, The Witch Queen introduces six different exotic armor pieces that we know of. There are two for each class, one of which solely focuses on the Stasis subclass while the other is tied to one of the Light subclasses. Keep in mind, The Witch Queen is a brand new expansion so it’s possible there are other methods for unlocking these that we do not yet know about. However, if you want to rock the new exotics, here is what we know about them and how to get them!
Author’s Note: At this time of writing, Witch Queen hasn’t been released. However, more than enough info on these exotics and how to get them was detailed in a This Week at Bungie blog post. I will be using this information and any additional details will be added once the expansion launches.)
Hunter Exotics
Renewal Grasps
What it Does: When equipped, this gauntlet will increase the radius of your Stasis Duskfield grenades. Additionally, any allies near the grenade will receive less damage while foes inside of the Duskfield also deal reduced damage. This allows players to use these grenades as a way to mitigate incoming damage or lockdown a specific troublesome target. Keep in mind, this won’t give you an additional Duskfield grenade charge so if you plan to use this make sure you have a high Discipline stat.
How to Get it: As a reward for Legendary/Master Lost Sectors when Exotic Gauntlets are a possible reward or by completing the entire Legendary Witch Queen campaign. Remember for the latter, there’s a 50 percent chance you will either get this exotic or the other Witch Queen Hunter exotic. This was confirmed by Bungie in one of their This Week at Bungie blog posts.
Voltaic Mirror
What it Does: Tied to middle-tree Arcstrider, this exotic increases the damage of all incoming attacks you reflect while spinning your staff. Given this has been a very underwhelming ability outside of PVP, the damage boost might make this subclass viable enough in some endgame content. You will also create more Orbs of Power for your allies, which is always nice for helping chain Supers with your fireteam.
How to Get it: As a reward for Legendary/Master Lost Sectors when Exotic Helms are a possible reward or by completing the entire Legendary Witch Queen campaign. Remember for the latter, there’s a 50 percent chance you will either get this exotic or the other Witch Queen Hunter exotic. This was confirmed by Bungie in one of their This Week at Bungie blog posts.
Titan Exotics
Hoarfrost-Z
What it Does: Are you tired of normal barricades? Bored with those translucent energy screens that block bullets? Well, the Hoarfrost-Z is the exotic chest piece for you. Replacing your rally barricade, you will create a massive wall of ice when you use your class ability. Not only will this have all the benefits of normal Stasis crystals, but it possesses an opening for you to fire through. Plus, your reload, stability, and weapon range will increase. If an enemy gets too close, the ice barricade will slow targets, making them easy to kill.
How to Get it: As a reward for Legendary/Master Lost Sectors when Exotic Chests are a possible reward or by completing the entire Legendary Witch Queen campaign. Remember for the latter, there’s a 50% chance you will either get this exotic or the other Witch Queen Titan exotic. This was confirmed by Bungie in one of their This Week at Bungie blog posts.
Loreley Splendor
What it Does: For all the bottom tree Sunbreaker Titans out there, Loreley Splendor is designed around the Sunspot mechanic. Running through a Sunspot (which is made via Solar ability kills) will heal players who have the Sun Warrior buff. This buff is obtained by passing through a Sunspot and normally just boosts your Super, Grenade, and Melee recharge rate while offering a moderate damage buff to your weapons. However, you will now be able to create Sunspots when critically wounded to give you a chance to survive which will make this subclass even more consistent in PVE activities.
How to Get it: As a reward for Legendary/Master Lost Sectors when Exotic Helms are a possible reward or by completing the entire Legendary Witch Queen campaign. Remember for the latter, there’s a 50 percent chance you will either get this exotic or the other Witch Queen Titan exotic. This was confirmed by Bungie in one of their This Week at Bungie blog posts.
Warlock Exotics
Osmiomancy
What it Does: Buffing the Coldsnap grenade, this gauntlet will give players an additional Coldsnap grenade charge while making the tracking far faster. You will also get increased grenade regeneration whenever you hit a target with the Coldsnap grenade. While I don’t think this will make Coldsnap grenade as useful in PVE, this exotic will make them quite viable in the Crucible or even Gambit when you are facing human opponents. After all, who doesn’t like fast-tracking grenades that freeze upon impact?
How to Get it: As a reward for Legendary/Master Lost Sectors when Exotic Gauntlets are a possible reward or by completing the entire Legendary Witch Queen campaign. Remember for the latter, there’s a 50 percent chance you will either get this exotic or the other Witch Queen Warlock exotic. This was confirmed by Bungie in one of their This Week at Bungie blog posts.
Secant Filaments
What it Does: Oh am I excited for this one. With these boots on, your Empowering Rift will now give both the caster and any allies inside the Devour buff. This means whenever you kill an enemy you instantly begin regenerating health, which is largely considered one of the best abilities in Destiny 2. Combining this with the Empowering Rift’s damage buff turns the Warlock’s class ability into a mini-Well of Radiance.
How to Get it: As a reward for Legendary/Master Lost Sectors when Exotic Legs are a possible reward or by completing the entire Legendary Witch Queen campaign. Remember for the latter, there’s a 50 percent chance you will either get this exotic or the other Witch Queen Warlock exotic. This was confirmed by Bungie in one of their This Week at Bungie blog posts.
