At long last, Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted has arrived. As expected, there’s a whole new seasonal quest to follow through, as well as new armor sets, weapons, and a haunting atmosphere in every corner. Considering how much is there to unpack, from Solar 3.0 to yet another list of weapon ornaments, we’re diving into all things Destiny 2. This guide focuses on the Destiny 2 Sever activity and how to complete it each week.
How to Start the Sever – Resolve Mission in Destiny 2
During the sixth week, you’re tasked to complete Sever – Resolve, starring Empress Caiatl and a few other hauntings.
In order to start Resolve, you have to head over to the Moon and select the quest from the bottom left, right next to the Derelict Leviathan (Castellum).
As it says so in the description, don’t worry if you’re going in solo, as your power level is automatically raised to 1550 in case you’re lower than that. I was able to complete it without any issues.
How to Complete the Sever – Rage Quest in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted
The Sever – Resolve quest begins in the same area as of last week, so there are no big surprises at the beginning of your course inside. The only thing that caught me by surprise was the presence of a Loyalist Colossus at the end of one of the first corridors, as he packs quite a punch. But aside from that, it’s all fairly straightforward.

This time, you can just drop down the pit directly to group up with the Coallition Allies once more and assault the Engineering Bay together. Once you’re done, place the ritual amplifier.

You will stumble upon Caitl in the next room, but before diving into the Sever activity, you’ll have to continue forward to the Engine Room.
The process here is the same as last week. You’re gonna have to override a panel to release containment lockdown in Destiny 2. But the problem is that this needs a manual override, and there’s a Contaminant to deal with.

The quest is going to ask you to incinerate the Contaminant, which is that unkillable enemy we’ve seen in previous Sever activities. There are barrels you can use to damage the creature, but you’re going to want to head over to the quest mark, and shoot the electrical panel there. Crouch and use the lever to your right to Unseal Immolation Hall.

Then, return to the main room and head to the middle — you’ll notice there’s a corridor that leads underneath. Move to the other side of the room, jump over, and before going through the door you’ll notice a second lever. Wait for the Contaminant to be in the hall in front of you, and then activate it. This is going to lock it in and, after a brief moment, incinerate the crap out of it.

After you’re done, return to the terminal and lift off the lockdown. Then, it’s time to catch up to Caiatl — just go back to where the Coalition Allies were waiting for you. Then, it’s time to begin the final severance ritual.

The boss is the Nightmare of Dominus Ghaul again. It’s a fairly straightforward fight, thankfully, as there aren’t any specific phases. That being said, Ghaul will use different attacks at several points throughout the encounter, so be prepared. Plus, you can expect a constant swarm of enemies following you around, which is really annoying.

I recommend keeping an eye on the Relic and making use of it as soon as it appears. Focus on the boss, of course, but also on any powerful enemies that may be stopping you from focusing on Ghaul.
Completing the Resolve activity in Destiny 2 unlocks the Triumph of the same name. Congrats on completing all of them!
How to Start the Sever – Rage Mission in Destiny 2
During the fifth week, you’re tasked to complete Sever – Rage, starring Empress Caiatl and a few other hauntings.
In order to start Rage, you have to head over to the Moon and select the quest from the bottom left, right next to the Derelict Leviathan (Castellum).
As it says so in the description, don’t worry if you’re going in solo, as your power level is automatically raised to 1550 in case you’re lower than that. I was able to complete it without any issues.
How to Complete the Sever – Rage Quest in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted
The Sever – Rage quest begins in a new area of the Leviathan’s Underbelly. You immediately find yourself in a couple of fights against Loyalists, but also, be careful where you step on — there are turbines that spit fire every couple seconds, so watch your step.

As you keep making your way through the corridors, more fights ensue. Then, it’s time to assault the Engineering Bay with the company of two Coalition Allies. Once you’re done, go ahead and place the first ritual amplifier.

On your search to Reach Caiatl, you’ll find a pit with an electrified barrier. Instead of dropping there, continue forward and jump past it to the door in front of you. Once inside the room, destroy both electrical panels above the door. This is going to grant access to both you and the Coalition Allies into the Engine Room.

Now, you’re gonna have to override a panel to release containment lockdown in Destiny 2. But the problem is that this needs a manual override, and there’s a Contaminant to deal with.

How to Start the Sever – Forgiveness Mission in Destiny 2
During the fourth week, you’re tasked to complete Sever – Forgiveness, starring Zavala and a few other hauntings.
In order to start Forgiveness, you have to head over to the Moon and select the quest from the bottom left, right next to the Derelict Leviathan (Castellum).
As it says so in the description, don’t worry if you’re going in solo, as your power level is automatically raised to 1550 in case you’re lower than that. I was able to complete it without any issues.
How to Complete the Sever – Forgiveness Quest in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted
The Sever – Forgiveness quest begins in the same area as last week. You immediately find the electrified room wide open and without electricity on the ground, just a bunch of enemies around. Take them down and be careful of the water, as you’ll die instantly.
Now, you’ll have to head over to the room where we used the panel on the right to open the door. Thing is, it’s not working this time around.

Remember the wrench from Sever – Grief? We’re going to pick it up again. If you don’t recall the path, just exit the room and head over to the corridor on the left side, to the opposite side of the entrance.
From here, shoot the pods on the right, continue forward, and turn left.

At the very end of that corridor, you can find the wrench, which you can then just take with you to the locked door and use on the device to your left to unlock it.

Let’s keep moving. Now, prepare to fight a ton of Scorn, followed up by placing the first ritual amplifier.

From there, it’s time to regroup with Zavala. You’ll have to go through the vertical hoops again from the fan on the ground.
After meeting Zavala, place the last ritual amplifier and push forward.

At the end of the corridor, you’ll find yet another pod trapped inside a shield. Repeat the same process as before and head to the center of the room to drop down below.

Time to begin the severance with Zavala. For this, you’re facing the Nightmare of Kethiks in Destiny 2 once more. Start by defeating a bunch of Dreg for the boss to appear.

The dynamic here is fairly simple — there are three stages dictated by the boss’ health bar. After meeting each threshold, the boss is going to disappear for a brief moment and you’ll have to deal with a ton of enemies. After a while, Kethiks will reappear. Rinse and repeat.
Completing the Forgiveness activity in Destiny 2 unlocks the Triumph of the same name. Until next week!
How to Start the Sever – Grief Mission in Destiny 2
During the third week, you’re tasked to complete Sever – Grief, starring Zavala and a few other hauntings.
In order to start Grief, you have to head over to the Moon and select the quest from the bottom left, right next to the Derelict Leviathan (Castellum).
As it says so in the description, don’t worry if you’re going in solo, as your power level is automatically raised to 1550 in case you’re lower than that. I was able to complete it without any issues.
How to Complete the Sever – Grief Quest in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted
The Sever – Grief quest begins in a new area of the Leviathan’s Underbelly. You immediately find an electrified room that you can’t access yet — instead, the route takes you to a corridor on the right side.

Then, you’re going to end up in a large room with flowers and a couple of enemies. Take them down and keep moving forward until you have to put the first ritual amplifier.

Now, it’s time to resolve the electrical hazard in Destiny 2. Next to the entrance that leads to the electrified room, turn left to find another one of the pods — hop inside its shield and shoot it. Then, head to the middle of the corridor and venture inside the door.

You’re going to see another open door that leads to the electrified room, ignore it and continue through the corridor. At the very end, go ahead and grab the wrench. A few enemies will show up, but you can just hit them.

Now, you won’t be able to go back through the entrance since it’s going to be blocked again. Instead, head to the open door that leads to the electrified room and use the boxes there to get to the ceiling.

Once up, follow the ceiling path carefully and you’re going to end up in the first room. Jump down and disable the relay to resolve the electrical hazard puzzle. Beware of the water, tho!

After you release the containment lockdown, you’re all set to continue forward. Prepare to fight a bunch of Scorn, and then, you’ll have to place the second ritual amplifier.

Time to regroup with Commander Zavala. For this, head over to the corner of the room that has a massive fan on the ground, and jump over to the platforms to start moving upwards.
There are small bridges that will open and close in intervals, but don’t fret, as it doesn’t take too long for them to re-active themselves. Once done, you’ll be in the Conduit.

After your chat with Zavala, place the third and final ritual amplifier, and then push forward.

At the end of the corridor, you’ll find yet another pod trapped inside a shield. Repeat the same process as before and head to the center of the room to drop down below.

Time to begin the severance with Zavala. For this, you’re facing the Nightmare of Kethiks in Destiny 2. Start by defeating a bunch of Dreg for the boss to appear.

Completing the Grief activity in Destiny 2 unlocks the Triumph of the same name. Until next week!
How to Start the Sever – Reconciliation Mission in Destiny 2
During the second week, you’re tasked to complete Sever – Reconciliation, starring Crow and a few other hauntings.
In order to start Reconciliation, you have to head over to the Moon and select the quest from the bottom left, right next to the Derelict Leviathan (Castellum).
As it says so in the description, don’t worry if you’re going in solo, as your power level is automatically raised to 1550 in case you’re lower than that. I was able to complete it without any issues.
How to Complete the Sever – Reconciliation Quest in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted
The Sever – Reconciliation quest is fairly straightforward and similar to last week’s, but there are some quirks to keep in mind still.
We kick off in a long corridor of the Leviathan’s Underbelly, as well as the first locked door. We’re once again tasked to place ritual amplifiers en route to the severance site.
You can place the first one in the room with enemies that you encounter as soon as you turn around the corner.

Then, it’s time to destroy the same electricity panels as in the Shame activity. Look for the door in the farther end, to the left of the red tunnel, that is opening and closing. Once you’re close, it’s going to open after a brief moment — go ahead and shoot the panels. Now, head inside the red tunnel and to the other side.

Remember the room with the enemy waves from last week? We’re revisiting it for another similar sequence. Then, it’s time to chat with Crow again in the usual room where he’s behind the glass.

Time to head over to the Underbelly Armory Deck. You’ll now have to interact with two levers instead of one, but it’s in the same room as last time.

Speaking of repeating things, you have to interact with the Egregore Spore Pods to open the next path. For this, head to the same room as last time, shoot the electrical panel again, and then use the spore pods that are inside the room you’ve just opened on the other end.
From here, move to the next room and go through the vent.

Once on the other side, plant the second ritual amplifier and the next room is going to open. We’re back at Containment, and there are enemies nearby. This time around, we’re hacking the Loyalist Barrier with Ghost. Then, it’s time to obtain Psion Decryption Keys.
In order to get Barrier Passcode Fragments in Destiny 2, you have to defeat Loyalist Psion foes around Containment. You need to kill five of them, although four of them are being protected by a shield.

For this, you have to track down two Psiop Commanders:
- The first Psiop Commander is on top of a balcony on the opposite side of where you used the wrench in the Shame activity
- The second Psiop Commander is on top of a balcony on the opposite side to the reactor-looking laser in the middle of Containment

Once you’ve grabbed all decryption keys from the Psion, continue forward. Take care of the enemies ahead of you, plant the ritual amplifier, and destroy the electrical panel inside the room to unlock the door. Back to the creepy elevator again and onto The Gauntlet.

The boss is… the same as last week! So the encounter is going to go exactly the same as well.
As a reminder, the key to this boss fight is to damage the Fanatic enough until you gain access to the yellow portals. These portals take you inside the outer walls, where you’ll chase down the boss while other enemies get in the way.
There are walls with holes that separate the boss in some instances, and you can either jump or crouch through them. This is the whole loop. Sometimes, you’ll get thrown outside of the outer walls and to the main area again to defeat some enemy groups, but as an upside, you’ll be able to grab the Relic and use it.

Keep on focusing fire on the boss. Again, you won’t need to restart the whole encounter if you happen to die while playing the activity on your own.
Completing the Reconciliation activity in Destiny 2 unlocks the Triumph of the same name. Until next week!
How to Start the Sever – Shame Mission in Destiny 2
The Sever activity kicked off with Season of the Haunted, and it’s related to the Bound in Sorrow seasonal quest. During the first week, you’re tasked to complete the Shame activity, starring Crow and a few other hauntings.
In order to start Sever – Shame, you have to head over to the Moon and select the Sever quest from the bottom left, right next to the Derelict Leviathan (Castellum).
As it says so in the description, don’t worry if you’re going in solo, as your power level is automatically raised to 1550 in case you’re lower than that. I was able to complete it without many issues.
How to Complete the Sever – Shame Quest in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted
The Shame activity quest is fairly straightforward, but it has some quirks that can be confusing on the first try, especially around locked doors and a stealth-oriented section later on.
We kick off in a long corridor of the Leviathan’s Underbelly, as well as the first locked door. The key is to head all the way over to the end of the corridor and look up, where you can see an electrical panel to shoot. Once that’s destroyed, the door will open.

You’re then led to a room with a spine on the ground (gross? sexy? both?) where you have to set a ritual amplifier. Just go ahead and interact with the button prompt once you’re close to the pile of bones.
Afterward, you’ll see a long red tunnel you can’t access just yet. Head over to the left of the tunnel to find a door that seems locked at first, but will open once you get close enough. Once it does, shoot the electrical panel inside, and you can now go through the tunnel.

On the other side of the tunnel, you’ll stumble upon a group of enemies. Take them down and the screen is going to fade to black, leading to a second enemy wave.
You’re then going to see a locked door, as well as a glass where Crow is present on the other side. The key here is to head to the door to the left of where you’re seeing the glass with Crow. If it doesn’t open, wait until Crow finishes talking. Once inside, use the lever to restore power to the Armory, which is going to spawn a few enemies down the corridor.

Take down the enemies, but also use them as a reference to where to head next. There’s going to be a new open door there, which happens to have an electrical panel at the top. Shoot it down.
This will open a door that leads to Egregore Spore Pods. Shoot them and get Egregore Link to finally get through that first locked door to the right of where Crow is.

The next room may seem like there’s no way out to the other side, but all you have to do is shoot the yellow barrels for them to explode. The path to continue will be open.
Here’s the other tricky part of the Sever – Shame quest: You have to manually override four terminals scattered around the area while the unkillable enemy from the introductory mission chases you down. It’s alright if it takes you down and you need to revive, so there isn’t much to worry about.
The locations go like this:
- The first lever to manually override is right to the left of the locked machine.
- From that location, turn around and go around the corner to the right to find the second lever.
- The third is on the top of a ceiling bridge right after the reactor-looking laser.
- For the last one, you need to pick up a wrench that is signalized with the objective marker, take it to the marked area, and use it with the machine to open the path to the last lever. There, you can grab one of the Calum Bobbleheads, too.

After some more traversal, you’ll have to destroy another electrical panel that is up and to the side of the door. Next, place the second ritual amplifier. Then it’s all a matter of going up through the strange levitation pad and to the final encounter.

Time to face the Nightmare of the Fanatic in Destiny 2 and finish the first activity of the season. The key to this boss fight is to damage the Fanatic enough until you gain access to the yellow portals.
