Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen Calendar Guide – Roadmap, Event Dates

It’s the first standalone season of Destiny 2 Year 4! Season of the Chosen is set to arrive on February 9 and promises some new additions and quality of life improvements. This season is highlighted by a new matchmade seasonal activity, Battlegrounds, three “new” strikes, and the return of Umbral Engrams!

Bungie just released a calendar outlining all these exciting new events and when they’re scheduled to start, so keep the following in mind while planning weddings or vacations in the near future:

When does the Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen Start and End?

Season of the Chosen kicks off on February 9. It ends on May 11.

Then What?

Things kick off at the launch of the season with the debut of the Battlegrounds activity across two locations: Behemoth and Hailstone. You’ll need the season pass for that, however. Everyone gets access to the returning Devil’s Lair and Fallen Saber strikes too. The weirdest thing on this list is “HELM Comes Online.” What does this mean? Well, we’ll explain that further into the article.

Stasis Aspect quests begin on February 9 though they’re likely just a way of getting aspects you may have missed.

After that there’s a slow trickle of content each week in February and some other updates in March before things really slow down. The time in parentheses is how long it will have been since the last activity went live.

    • February 12
      • New Trials of Osiris with updated armor set, weapons, and more.
    • February 16 (Less Than a Week)
      • New Battleground: Cleansing
    • February 23 (One Week)
      • New Battleground: Oracle
      • Iron Banner Returns
    • March 23 (One Month)
      • Proving Grounds Strike Launches for Season Pass Holders
      • Iron Banner Returns
    • March 30 (One Week)
      • Proving Grounds Strike Launches for All Players
      • Proving Grounds is the Nightfall
    • April 13 (Two Weeks)
      • Iron Banner Returns
    • April 20 (One Week)
      • Guardians Games 2021
    • May 7-9 (Two Weeks)
      • Guardian Games Closing Ceremony

The good news is the only season pass content this time around is the new Battlegrounds matchmade activity. Everything else is eventually available to free-to-play folks. That said, Bungie has already explained that some Prismatic Lenses for the returning Prismatic Recaster are exclusive to season pass holders.

What is Battlegrounds?

We don’t know anything other than it’s a three player matchmade activity and what the Bungie help article describes.

To prove their strength in the eyes of the Cabal empress players will need to challenge Caiatl’s warriors in the new Battlegrounds activities across the system. Use the Hammer of Proving to forge and socket Challenger Medallions out of pillaged Cabal Gold for the right to take on Caiatl’s fiercest commanders in ritual combat. Visit the War Table at the H.E.L.M. to upgrade your Hammer of Proving through three tiers of pursuits that will unlock Hammer upgrades, new Proving Runes, gear drops, and more.

What is The HELM?

It’s the Hub for Emergency Logistics and Maneuvers. Basically it’s your new area for coordinating Vanguard operations with the “War Table Seasonal vendor” who we thought was Zavala, but that probably can’t be the case. You can also use the Prismatic Recaster here and decode your Umbral Engrams at the Umbral Decoder. In a new move, the help document also says players an manage their vault and get items from the Postmaster here!
