Destiny 2 Proving Ground Guide - How to Start the Proving Ground Strike

Destiny 2’s Season of the Chosen is officially live, so grab your weapon of choice and get ready to face the Cabal horde. Revolving around stopping Emperor Calus’ daughter Caiatl from uniting the Cabal, players will need to take down various champions that are vying for a seat on her War Counsel. With players battling against Caiatl’s generals for week, the war between us and the Cabal is finally coming to a close this season. Capping off the Season 13 storyline is the new Proving Ground strike, which has players infiltrating a massive Cabal tank to bring down Caiatl’s champion. However, accessing this strike can be a bit confusing due to the mission marker appearing on Nessus.

How to Start the Proving Ground

To start the Proving Ground, open up the Nessus destination map and select the Proving Ground strike above the Watcher’s Grave. This will be accessed via the map, not physically landing and going to a marker like you would for story levels. I’m not entirely sure why the marker is just there on Nessus, but if you won’t find it since it doesn’t exist in any of the patrol zones. Instead, simply access the strike via the Nessus map to begin matchmaking and start this activity.

The Proving Ground Strike is remarkably short and will take around 15 minutes to complete on the base difficulty. Your recommended Power is 1230, but there’s a very good chance that you’re well above this. While I won’t delve into spoilers, I will say this is a terrific mission to farm Cabal kills on. Since you need to slay a 100 with a submachine gun, I suggest bringing one with you to this strike. I was able to almost complete it in a single run, so you shouldn’t have any trouble so long as you possess a decent submachine gun.

Destiny 2 Season 13 Week 7 Challenges

Additionally, there is a very important cutscene right after you complete the strike for the weekly quest. Make sure to not just abandon the mission or close out of the game. Trust me, you will want to watch this. After you complete this week’s story mission, you will gain access to a new transmission at the H.E.L.M. from Caiatl. I also recommend listening to this since it builds upon what happens in the new cutscene. Upon finishing the whole story quest, you will be rewarded with the exotic sparrow, Vita Brevis.

Other than that, there isn’t anything terribly new this week. Iron Banner has returned once more, so make sure to complete the bounties offered so you can earn some easy Pinnacle tier gear. Additionally, there’s a new Grandmaster Nightfall: The Ordeal which will be rewarding players with the Shadow Price Adept. While auto rifles aren’t in the best spot right now for PVE, this is still worth your time given the 450 RPM archetype is due for a buff.
