Semiotician is a brand-new Strand High Impact Frame rocket launcher introduced in Season of the Witch. It’s the second Strand rocket launcher in the game, but compared to the Crowning Duologue, which was the first and also exclusive to Solstice, it has a much more robust perk pool to boast. Moreover, it’s craftable and can get Enhanced Perks. Here’s how you can get it and the best perk choices for both PVE and PVP.
How to Get Semiotician in Destiny 2
Semiotician can drop from Savathun’s Spire or Altars of Summoning, but players can focus it using seasonal Witch engrams at the Athenaeum Ritual Table — you can get there from the HELM. Obtaining five Deepsights of it, or applying five Deepsight Harmonizers to individual Semioticians that don’t have Deepsight, can make the weapon craftable at The Enclave.

Semiotician God Rolls
Semiotician PVE God Roll
- Quick Launch
- Impact Casing or Black Powder
- Field Prep
- Explosive Light
- Masterwork: Velocity or Blast Radius
Field Prep with Explosive Light is a tried-and-tested PVE combo for boss DPS that has stood the test of time, and for good reason at that. The combination offers increased reserves and reload speed with Field Prep, and a massive damage boost with Explosive Light — which is arguably the best damage perk for rocket launchers in the game, and second only to Bait and Switch. Frenzy and the recently buffed Bipod are options, but Explosive Light is simply much better. I do want to mention the origin trait, Head Rush, which offers bonus reload and handling if a player stands up after crouching for a short period of time. This seems like it could be good on paper, but upon testing this with Field Prep, it didn't make a significant difference. It could be that this is a bug or that it doesn’t work with Field Prep, but don’t count on that for DPS situations just yet.
Semiotician PVE God Roll
- Quick Launch
- High-Velocity Rounds
- Impulse Amplifier
- Danger Zone
- Masterwork: Velocity or Blast Radius
Impulse Amplifier has always been strong in PVP rocket launchers and Danger Zone offers a larger blast radius, which is always useful in the Crucible. Velocity is key as you want to hit players fast in PVP situations but additional Blast Radius can come in clutch all the same.
