Destiny 2's Power Cap is Staying the Same (Again)

Good news! Another season with no power cap to chase.

Bungie has announced that the Power level cap in Destiny 2 will not increase for the second season running, following positive feedback from Season 21.

Bungie’s State of the Game post outlines that Power will remain capped at 1810 in the upcoming season, explaining that this allows players to enjoy the game at their own pace and not feel compelled to rush through Pinnacle activities to ensure they can play relevant content.

However, this will once again make Artifact Power critical as the sole way for players to meet the minimum requirements for high-level Raid and Grand Master Nightfall content. This means that unlocking the seasonal artifact and earning as much XP as possible is the best way to ensure you are ready for high-level content. Many activities within Destiny 2 have received changes in recent seasons that lock the power level of players when they enter them. Guardians can no longer over-level and become too powerful for certain activities, creating more engaging combat.

Destiny 2 Power Level Changes

These changes to Power Levels are part of Bungie’s attempt to bring the challenge back to Destiny 2. This started with the Lightfall expansion and increased the health and damage of many low-level enemies, most notably on Neomuna. There was initially some backlash to this change, as it caused most enemies to be a more considerable threat than expected, leading to frustration for newer players. Overall, the changes received positive feedback as they justified careful build crafting.

While Bungie later tweaked some of these values, the team is happy to continue pursuing more significant challenges in Destiny 2’s content. So be prepared for a tough time in the upcoming reprised raid.

The information on new the power cap was only a tiny part of the massive amount of information provided by Bungie in the State of the Game post, with further details on Ritual activities, Final Shape’s narrative, and Gambit.
