Destiny 2 Opens Fireteam Finder For All Activities

Matchmaking in Destiny has never been this easy.

Originally announced alongside Destiny 2: Lightfall in 2022, Bungie's official in-game Fireteam Finder beta has gone live for all activities, and it's about to improve the experience drastically.

Bungie revealed in Thursday's This Week in Destiny blog post that the feature now supports every activity. The company held a raid stress test on November 30 followed by an expanded beta test on December 6. Following solid results, Bungie rolled out the full version on December 14. Barring any server issues or massive bugs, the feature will likely stay live indefinitely.

With it, players can create or search for a LFG (looking-for-group) listing in anything from new endgame activities like the Warlord's Ruin dungeon or more frivolous adventures like Xur's game show Dares of Eternity. "Now that we have expanded the beta to all activities, you can use it to find friends to run some chill strikes, go PvP wild in Iron Banner, or start a dance party in the Tower," the blog post says.

Bungie's official Destiny 2 Companion App and the Bungie website already have a Find Fireteam feature, but they're a bit clunky. Some listings have extremely rigid requirements like "need wellock" or "flawless run only no hunter pls." Third-party services and other various websites, including Discord servers and dedicated subreddits are similar chaotic grab-bags. We all just want to get good loot by completing hard activities, and it's no fun for anybody when someone demands you use a certain Exotic or screams at you for misunderstanding a raid mechanic.

Fireteam Finder, however, changes everything — and it's refreshing to see Bungie force anyone who uses it to make "The Guardian Oath" pledging to foster a positive environment with kindness, teamwork, respect, and patience.

Bungie's latest blog post confirms that the "beta" tag will remain on the feature as the team patches any remaining bugs and refines the experience, with the full launch expected sometime in early 2024. In the meantime, consider using it to run some raids, dungeons, or lost sectors.

To do that, open your Director menu and tab over to Roster — the icon with two people side-by-side to the right of Destinations). Fireteam Finder appears as a banner at the top of the screen. Alternatively, before you hit Launch on any activity, you can select Find under your personal banner in the Fireteam section of the page at the top-right area of the screen.
