In the This Week in Destiny post, Bungie announced the winner of their first-ever worldwide emblem art competition. In its annual Bungie Day Giving Festival blog, Bungie gave fans a few weeks to participate in the competition by posting their art on Twitter with the hashtag #Emblematic. The winner of the competition gets to work with the art team at Bungie to turn their design into an in-game emblem, and use it for a future fundraising campaign.
The winning emblem titled A Guardian’s Notebook by Twitter user @a_w_mont shows a genuinely cool concept. It showcases the fundamentals of Destiny — like Ghosts, the Gjallarhorn, and even including Saint-14 — while also maintaining that middle-of-class boredom doodle aesthetic that we are all so familiar with. The Destiny logo, in particular, looks stylish with the shading that gives it that 3D art effect. It almost reminds me of the cool “S” kids would draw in school back in the day.

My submission for the design contest. I’d love to see a fun and sketchy type of emblem in Destiny 2. (Below is an in game example mockup)#Emblematic#Destiny2 #Bungie pic.twitter.com/JKaclQdKiN

The simple and personal concept makes it stand out. Doodling in notebooks is relatable for many people, because it is an effortless way of expressing oneself. Players, as Guardians, use their fashion, loadouts, emotes, and emblems to be expressive. However, this doodle feels like a glimpse into a Guardian’s notebook in the Destiny universe.
This emblem looks rad, and it would be nice to see Bungie do more competitions like this so artsy players have another chance to show their beautiful art in-game. The developer often ties exclusive cosmetics as a reward for various fundraising events throughout the year, and these unique emblems are great incentives for people to donate to important causes.
