You can acquire Thermal Erosion on Europa by completing the Empire Hunts offered by Variks once you’re done with Beyond Light’s campaign. Every week Variks will rotate the rewards for his three Empire Hunts, so you will need to wait until this machine gun is available. Additionally, unless you’ve unlocked the Empire Hunt II Sabotage, you will need to spend Herealways Pieces to purchase these quests. You can earn Herealways Pieces by participating in activities or killing enemies on Europa. There are a few Sabotages available that open up additional ways to obtain this resource. Alternatively, you can also kill Enforcer Brigs that are roaming around Europa’s main patrol zones. These have a chance to reward a random piece of Europa armor or weapons. This is a very inconsistent method, so don’t rely on this to farm Thermal Erosion.

For our god roll picks, we are starting out with either Corkscrew Rifling or Arrowhead Brake. The former offers a modest boost to range, handling, and stability, while the latter almost primarily boosts your recoil control. This comes down to preference since you will have a slightly easier time handling the recoil if you’re on PC than console. Our magazine is going to be Extended Mag to increase how much ammo we can hold per clip. While it does slow down our reload speed, this isn’t noticeable when combined with the Field Prep perk. However, if you don’t want additional ammo, then look for Armor Piercing rounds to give yourself a boost to range.
As stated above, we are running Field Prep to reduce our reload speed. Zen Moment is also a solid first pick since it allows us to stay on target and accurately hit the critical spot of bosses. Your second primary perk should absolutely be Wellspring, which is a brand-new perk introduced with Beyond Light. This will help you charge all of your abilities, allowing you to use or have access to them far sooner than you should. That being said, if you’re solely focused on your grenades then pick up Demolitionist instead.

The PVP roll is a little less exciting since we are solely focusing on boosting our range and gun’s stability when firing. Arrowhead Brake gives us that added recoil control while Ricochet Rounds offers a bump to the gun’s range. Plus, the rounds will bounce off hard surfaces which will matter in .01% of firefights. You’ll also want the perk combination of Zen Moment and Dynamic Sway Reduction to greatly increase this weapon’s stability. Since you have a limited amount of ammo per Heavy brick in PVP, you’ll want to make every shot count. Given this is a 900 RPM machine gun, you’ll typically only get 1-2 kills before you’re out of bullets. These perks will, hopefully, ensure you don’t waste any bullets when firing at an opponent beyond 5-10 meters.
