Lore

The submersible hits the water at an odd angle, throwing the passengers against the bulkhead. No one was buckled in before it dropped. Confusion erupts from the team of scientists as they begin their descent: the currents shouldn't be as strong as they are. Titan's atmosphere doesn't allow for that.

But they are swept away.

The pilot struggles to orient the craft, and for a moment, they are vertical, able to see blooms of fire expanding above the surface of the ocean. The submersible pitches in another direction, sinking rapidly.

They have nowhere to go but down. Hide under the ice shelf, wait the chaos out. Hope for rescue.

One of the scientists leans out of her seat, pressing her face up against the port window. A shape moves in the dark, too massive to be another craft, too sinuous to be mechanical. The scientist reaches back, blindly grasping for the hand of the person seated next to her.

The shape in the sea doubles back, following the speed and telemetry of the current-swept submersible. Everyone sees it now, blocking out what little light is left as they sink past the ice shelf. It dives with them. Not after, but with.

She will not let them die alone.

Cold Comfort is a Stasis Aggressive Frame rocket launcher that can be obtained from Destiny 2's Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. It is a solid rocket with meta perks for both PVE and PVP, but the thing that makes it stand out from the rest is the Restoration Ritual origin trait — which offers an emergency reload when the weapon runs out of ammo upon finishing an enemy or reviving a teammate. Here's how players can get the rocket launcher and what the best perk combinations are for PVE and PVP.

How to Get Cold Comfort

Players can get Cold Comfort from the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. It can be obtained from every encounter of the dungeon but the opening Ritual encounter and the Ecthar boss fight are  recommended for farming this rocket as they both have a slightly smaller loot pool than the final boss fight. Players also have a chance to get this rocket launcher from the dungeon's secret chests.

Cold Comfort God Rolls

Cold Comfort PVE God Roll

  • Quick Launch
  • Impact Casing
  • Envious Assassin or Tracking Module
  • Bait and Switch or Explosive Light
  • Masterwork: Velocity

Cold Comfort is an absolute powerhouse of a rocket in PVE and it has the perks to prove it. It is the only other rocket that has Bait and Switch on it, with the other rocket being Apex Predator, but  Cold Comfort has a slight edge. This is because of the Restoration Ritual origin trait — which gives the gun a free reload when the magazine runs out — but also because it has Envious Assassin. Envious Assassin can overflow the magazine three times it’s original size. This means that Cold Comfort can have three rockets in the magazine and upon firing those rockets, Restoration Ritual will have a fourth rocket ready to shoot automatically. This is great for burst DPS phases in general and pairs wonderfully with perks like Bait and Switch, which offers a 35% damage boost to a weapon after every weapon in the loadout hits a target. Alternatively, Explosive Light is a tried-and-tested DPS perk that can be a great substitute. The other choice for the third column is Tracking Module. This may seem strange at first, but the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon's final boss is a big reason why this perk is worth keeping. She is notorious for moving around a lot during her boss fight, and a Tracking Module rocket launcher is one of the most reliable ways to damage her. It helps target bosses that move around the arena.

Cold Comfort PVP God Roll

  • Quick Launch
  • High-Velocity Rounds
  • Tracking Module or Impulse Amplifier
  • Cluster Bomb
  • Masterwork: Velocity or Blast Radius

When it comes to PVP, Cluster Bomb is a dependable perk that's reliable for rockets and getting kills with Cluster Bomb explosions is always fun. Combine that with Tracking Module and you have a beautiful pairing for the Crucible. Impulse Amplifier is a solid alternative as it would pair well with Cluster Bomb, with the added caveat of you having to actually position your rocket launcher instead.
