Code Duello is a pretty simple weapon to actually obtain. The first method is by completing the new Battlegrounds activity and using your Hammer of Proving at one of the three chests at the end. You will need a Hammer Charge to bust this chest open, but doing so will randomly award you with a piece of seasonal gear. Alternatively, you can focus on Umbral Engrams at the H.E.LM. to give you a better chance at obtaining this specific weapon. For Tier I, you’ll want to pick Chosen Arms which can reward you with any of the seasonal weapons, while Tier 2 and 3’s Explosion and Detonation only hands out the Code Duello and Threaded Needle.
For the Tier 2 and 3 focuses you’ll need to finish the rocket launcher or linear fusion rifle kill requirements. Doing so will unlock these focus options, but it will cost you 3 and 5 Hammer Charges respectively. Because of this high Hammer Charge price, I recommend waiting until you’ve upgraded your H.E.L.M. table a bit. Additionally, Code Duello can drop from various playlist activities such as Nightfalls, Crucible, and Gambit. This is way more inconsistent, so don’t use this as your main method for obtaining a god roll. It’s mainly there to supplement your Umbral Engrams.
Code Duello God Rolls
Code Duello PVE God Roll
- Linear Compensator
- Impact Casing
- Auto-Loading Holster or Impulse Amplifier
- Lasting Impression or Chain Reaction
For the Code Duello god roll, it entirely depends on if you will be using this solely for bosses or general mob clear. This heavy weapon is great for both, but it’s important to know what you want out of this rocket launcher beforehand. In the first slot, we are looking for Linear Compensator to boost our blast radius, velocity, and stability — all of which are critical for a great rocket launcher. You’ll also absolutely want Impact Casing, as this boost’s the damage of direct hits. Think of this as the rocket launcher equivalent of Spike Grenades on grenade launchers.
For our primary perks, here’s where we have two different perk combinations depending on what you want. If you want a weapon specifically for dealing with bosses then Auto-Loading Holster and Lasting Impression are the perks you want. This combination lets you fire a rocket, swap to another weapon to shoot the boss, then quickly change back to your Heavy once it’s reloaded to fire another missile. For those wanting something for mobs then Impulse Amplifier and Chain Reaction is for you. You’ll be able to wipe out waves of enemies with this combo, which is especially effective in Gambit. You know, that mode that nobody plays.
Code Duello PVP God Roll
- Quick Launch
- High-Velocity Rounds
- Quickdraw
- Unrelenting or Cluster Bomb
If you want to use the Code Duello in PVP (don’t) you’ll want to pick up both Quick Launch and High-Velocity Rounds. With the introduction of Stasis, Guardians have become far more mobile making it critical your missile hits them before they can react. Blast radius can help, but I always prefer to optimize my rocket launcher’s velocity. Your first primary perk should be Quickdraw, which allows you to quickly engage any enemies you ambush or spot before they try to run away. As for your second perk, I prefer Unrelenting so you can trigger your health regeneration after every kill, but Cluster Bombs can be fun if you’re in a 6v6 playlist.
