Avalanche

Stats

Unsurprisingly, the Avalanche is directly tied to The Dawning event. This means when the event ends, you will no longer be able to obtain this weapon. You can get the Glacioclasm from opening legendary Dawning packages, which are given out by vendors whenever they get their specific treat. For example, you cannot get Candy Dead Ghosts to Zavala, only the Spider. Additionally, you aren’t guaranteed to get a legendary package whenever you offer someone a baked good. You can also earn Dawning weapons by completing the steps of the Dawning quest Eva gives out. However, this is a limited supply so don’t rely on this method unless you get really lucky.

Instead, focus on masterworking your oven first since that reduces the amount of Essence of Dawning needed. This will save you a lot of time in the long run, so make sure to bake everything at least once. After that, just focus on making a lot of baked goods and giving them out to vendors. Legendary Lost Sectors and Nightmare Hunts appear to be the fastest methods for farming Essence of Dawn.

Avalanche God Rolls

Avalanche PVE God Roll

  • SLO-21 Post or SLO-12 Post
  • Extended Mag
  • Feeding Frenzy or Auto-Loading Holster
  • Rampage or Vorpal Weapon

To be clear, the Avalanche is absolutely the worst machine gun currently in Destiny 2. It’s great for dealing with just mobs of enemies, but you shouldn’t rely on this weapon for bosses or in endgame activities. That being said, if you do want to farm this weapon I recommend some combination of the roll above. For your scope, either the SLO-12 Post or SLO-21 Post are both solid options. These increase the weapon’s Handling, making it easier to ADS (aim-down-sights), ready, and swap to. Personally, I like the SLO-21 Post a little more since it slightly increases the Avalanche’s range. For your magazine, I suggest Extended Mag since the reload penalty isn’t a big deal with the roll we’re recommending.

Speaking of, you’ll absolutely want either Feeding Frenzy or Auto-Loading Holster for your second perk. Both of these will help you avoid any long reloads, allowing you to quickly take down enemies with very little downtime before clips. I’ve always liked Auto-Loading Holster, especially if you plan n using this for bosses since you can swap to another weapon to shoot a boss then swap back to a fully loaded weapon. Our final perk will entirely depend on what you want out of this weapon. If you’re looking for straight boss damage go with Vorpal Weapon, but if you’d prefer mob clear then Rampage is the obvious choice.

Avalanche PVP God Roll

  • SPO-57 Front
  • High-Caliber Rounds
  • Dynamic Sway Reduction
  • High-Impact Reserves

Similar to the PVE version, we really don’t suggest using the Avalanche in PVP. For our scope, we are going with the SPO-57 Front for that nice range boost, despite the small decrease in handling. The magazine will, unsurprisingly, be High-Caliber Rounds for the range boost and to cause our enemies to flinch when hit. Our first primary perk is Dynamic Sway Reduction which gives the Avalanche some need stability when firing continuously at a target. Our final perk is High-Impact Reserves which gives us a nice damage bonus when we grab a Heavy brick. This will almost always be active since you’ll only spawn with a small amount of ammo in the clip, giving you a nice damage boost without relying on killing enemies or any additional gimmicks.
