The Dawning returns to Destiny 2 once again! While there are plenty of rewards to chase and there’s a quest line to complete, your main focus will be baking up a bunch of wonderful treats for various NPCs. This is not only to complete two quests, but potentially earn some guns such as the Avalanche machine gun, Cold Front submachine gun, and Glacioclasm fusion rifle. We will be focusing on the newest weapon today, so here’s how to get the new Zephyr Stasis sword and what the god rolls are:
How to Get the Zephyr
Unsurprisingly, the Zephyr is directly tied to The Dawning event. This means when the event ends on January 4th, you will no longer be able to obtain this weapon. You can get the sword from opening legendary Dawning packages, which are given out by vendors whenever they get their specific treat. For example, you cannot give Candy Dead Ghosts to Zavala, only the Spider. Additionally, you aren’t guaranteed to get a legendary package whenever you offer someone a baked good. You can refine the loot pool by bringing 5 Dawning Spirit and a Gift In Return to Eva to purchase the Edgy Gift Exchange. This guarantees either the Zephyr or Cold Front.
Instead, focus on masterworking your oven first since that reduces the amount of Essence of Dawning needed. This will save you a lot of time in the long run, so make sure to bake everything at least once. After that, just focus on making a lot of baked goods and giving them out to vendors. The new Dares of Eternity is perfect for farming ingredients if you don’t have a Shadow Thrall checkpoint in The Shattered Realm dungeon.
Zephyr God Rolls
Zephyr PVE God Roll
- Jagged Edge
- Balanced Guard
- Relentless Strikes
- Cold Steel
When it comes to the Zephyr, you are really only looking for one specific roll. In the first column, Jagged Edge is the best choice as it will give you +10 to your Impact which increases this weapon’s damage. Sure it lowers our ammo reserves, but we will be using this sword mainly to trigger a variety of Stasis fragments and the Focusing Lens mod. In the guard slot, I am going with Balanced Guard. While this perk doesn’t excel in a specific area, it provides a nice bonus across multiple stats making for a more consistent performing weapon.
As for our primary perks, we are picking Relentless Strikes simply because it will grant us sword ammo after hitting three light attacks in a row. This has always been a wonderful option for swords since you’ll typically use the light attacks to deal with rank-and-file enemies. Alternatively, you can go with Tireless Blade as it refunds ammo upon killing an enemy with a powered sword attack. However, I don’t like that you need to kill an enemy to trigger this ability, since Relentless Strikes just awards ammo for hitting foes. Finally, you will absolutely want the Cold Steel perk. This slows any enemy hit with a powered sword attack, which triggers a lot of different Stasis abilities and even the Focusing Lens mod.
Zephyr PVP God Roll
- Hungry Edge
- Balanced Guard
- Duelist’s Trance
- Assassin’s Blade
Full disclosure, I am not a big sword user when it comes to PVP. That being said, if you are looking to bring the Zephyr into the Crucible I suggest using the Hungry Edge perk. This gives us some additional ammo to use, which is always nice when Heavy ammo is limited. Similar to the PVE god roll, we will be using Balanced Guard for a nice stat boost across the board. Duelist’s Trance is the first primary perk, largely because I like the passive bonuses it offers for killing a Guardian. This can make taking out multiple targets far easier — especially when combined with Assassin’s Blade to bo0sst our mobility. These perks combined can make a skilled sword wielder quite a nuisance in PVP!
