Destiny 2: Beyond Light is finally here after months and months of waiting. Acting as the next major chapter in this FPS/RPG hybrid, players will embark on a journey to Europa to battle against a Fallen leader called Eramis and learn more about the true nature of the Darkness. This expansion includes new characters, missions, endgame activities, weapons, exotics, and enemy types. Unsurprisingly, a new season is upon us which means there are a fair amount of weapons and armor getting sunset.
For the unfamiliar, every season in Destiny has a Power Cap for its gear. This can be seen when examining the item and looking at the little yellow number right above the word Power. Since Beyond Light’s Power cap is 1260, any items from Season of Dawn will not be usable in subsequent endgame activities. Here is a complete list of every item we will be losing going into Season 13.

Unfortunately, we are losing a lot of weapons going into next season. A total of 21 will no longer be useful for any endgame activities beyond Power Level 1260. This will certainly be frustrating for many, as Season of Dawn introduced some seriously solid PVE weapons such as Python, Buzzard, The Old Fashion, Breachlight, and Patron of Lost Causes. While none of these weapons are tied directly to mods, this is still a big blow to Destiny 2’s loot pool which continues to shrink. If you are using any of the weapons above with any regularity, I strongly recommend finding replacements for your loadout.
Thankfully, PVP players won’t be hit as hard during the transition since many of the meta weapons, but they still have Stasis to deal with so their luck isn’t exactly improving. Remember, any weapon with the phoenix symbol in the top left corner cannot have its power increased when Season 13 begins. Hopefully, this new season will introduce a bunch of firearms for players to use. Otherwise, I suspect many will leave Destiny as the lack of loot to chase was a major community complaint when Beyond Light released.
As for armor, all you have to worry about is losing the Righteous set. This was tied to the Season 13 Season Pass and a much better variant is available via universal ornaments. Remember, transmogrification is coming in Season 14, so if you did obtain this set you’ll be able to use it, cosmetically, when this feature is released.
Destiny 2’s Season 13 should release on February 9th, but this date could obviously change.
