Enhancement Cores are an incredibly valuable upgrade material in Destiny 2. These are useful for things like Masterworking armor, leveling up crafted weapons, and changing perks on them. There are several ways to obtain Enhancement Cores, with farming methods constantly changing over the seasons. More changes are set to go live in Season of the Wish. Here’s a complete guide on Enhancement Cores, what they can do, and how players can farm them.
Enhancement Cores raise weapons, armor, and Ghost Shells to their highest potential. This material can also be used to level up crafted weapons and change the perks on crafted weapons once a certain level has been reached, too.
How to Obtain Enhancement Cores
Trade With Master Rahool
If you’re looking to trade them in for something else, head to Master Rahool to turn 10 Enhancement Cores into one Enhancement Prism. Enhancement Cores are integral to buildcrafting, but they’re not all that easy to come by. Starting in Season of the Wish, players can trade in an Enhancement Prism for five Enhancement Cores, and this transaction only costs 2,500 Glimmer.
Dismantle Gear
There are many ways to obtain Enhancement Cores in Destiny 2 but the most common way to get them is through dismantling gear. Any gear you dismantle has a chance to drop a single Enhancement Core. Alternatively, dismantling fully Masterworked weapons or armor drops seven Enhancement Cores each. Depending on the tier of the Masterworked armor piece, dismantling it can drop more than one Core with the number of Cores increasing for each armor tier level.
Level Up Blue Gear
There is a way to turn Enhancement Prisms into Enhancement Cores by Masterworking blue gear up to tier eight and then dismantling it. This costs three Enhancement Cores and one Enhancement Prism but returns six Enhancement Cores. This method is incredibly useful if you find yourself with too many Enhancement Prisms, but struggle to maintain Enhancement Cores. Players can obtain blue gear from Collections by going to the Armor Tab and going to the Leveling section.
Banshee-44 Bounties
Players can also obtain Enhancement Cores through daily bounties at Banshee-44. Every day, Banshee offers four daily bounties that ask players to defeat enemies under certain criteria, and doing so will reward players with one Enhancement Core each. These bounties are per character so players with three characters can farm up to 12 Enhancement Cores a day by doing this.
Rank Up Vendors
Another way players can get Enhancement Cores is by simply ranking up at vendors at the Tower like Commander Zavala, Lord Shaxx, The Drifter, and others. In the first rank up, players can get three Enhancement Cores, but players can earn up to six Enhancement Cores upon resetting ranksThe Season Pass reward track also has Enhancement Cores in increments of seven.
Complete Activities
Players can also get Enhancement Cores by simply completing activities like Adept and Hero Nightfalls, Trials matches, and both Legend and Master Lost Sectors. Nightfalls and Trials matches drop one Enhancement Core each while Legend Lost Sector completions often three to four Enhancement Cores. Master Lost Sectors can drop Enhancement Cores too, but Enhancement Prisms are more likely to drop. Regardless, Lost Sectors are the most deterministic path to obtaining Enhancement Cores. Another, less reliable way to obtain Enhancement Cores is by applying the Lesser Core Harvest mod on your Ghost Shell. This mod can drop an Enhancement Core upon defeating bosses for Vanguard activities, Guardians with precision final blows in the Crucible, and Invaders in Gambit.
There are also ways to obtain Enhancement Cores through seasonal events like Festival of the Lost and The Dawning by completing seasonal event challenges or opening Engrams.
Use Up Finest Matterweave
Lastly, if players have Finest Matterweave consumables left over in the Inventory, dismantling it will offer a single Enhancement Core.
