Happy Bungie Day everyone!
A new weekly reset has arrived and it’s adding a ton of new content into Destiny 2. Along with the Moments of Triumph and Pyramid Ships invading other planets, players can now complete a new exotic quest for the Ruinous Effigy trace rifle. While the quest itself is pretty simple, there is a step that might confuse some Guardians out there. After you complete the Interference mission you will be tasked with hunting down 25 Calcified Light and killing 15 of Savathun’s Marionettes. The former is actually pretty simple if you know what to look for, while the latter is just going to take some grinding.
Where to Find Calcified Light
There are a total of 25 Calcified Light scattered across Io, Titan, Mars, and Mercury. These are little blue stars that you can interact with to earn progress towards this quest and get some Altered Energy. You can find 5 Calcified Light on Mars, Mercury, and Titan, while Io houses the last 10. These Calcified Light are only located in the main patrol zones and not in Lost Sectors or other areas of the map. You should never need to load up a Strike or other activity to access a Calcified Light.
To actually locate these items, when you land in a patrol zone pull up your Ghost. You should see several white diamond markers appear that will point you in the direction of the Calcified Light. Follow these diamonds to discover the location of each Light fragment scattered throughout each patrol zone. Keep in mind, your Ghost has a limited detection range, so you’ll need to drive around the patrol area and periodically summon it. I only really needed to do this on Io since the patrol zones are quite large.

Speaking of Io, there are a few that are hidden in The Scar that will require you to hunt down small cave entrances that lead to them. While they may seem impossible to reach at first, there are small openings to caverns you can transverse that will lead you to these Light fragments. Once you collect all 25 you will be tasked will killing 15 of Savathun’s Marionettes. These are Champion tier Taken enemies that will spawn either at the end of the Heroic version of the Contact Public Event or during certain patrol zone areas like Titan’s The Rig.
This step will take some time, so be prepared to hang around areas waiting for them to show up. Just be kind to your fellow Guardians and let them get a few shots in before killing the Marionette. Otherwise, they won’t make any progress towards their quest and you’ll just extend their grind.
