The Best Hunter Build for Destiny 2 Season of the Worthy

The Season of the Worthy is in full swing in Destiny 2, and while it may not be living up to everybody’s expectations, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. One of the best features the season has brought us is Warmind Cells, items which can be spawned using Rasputin’s Seraph weapons and interacted with to create various effects. On their own, Warmind Cells are unreliable, since their spawn rate is random. But one mod on the seasonal artifact turns them from an occasional bonus into constant room-clearing bombs. If that sounds good to you, here’s a Hunter build that will help you create maximum chaos.

The Build

First thing’s first — you need to unlock enough levels of your seasonal artifact to get to the last tier. Once you’ve done that, grab Tyrant’s Surge. This armor mod spawns Warmind Cells whenever you do damage with Arc abilities. That’s pretty good in itself, but we can do better. We’re going to run bottom tree Arcstrider, with Skip Grenades and our dodge set to restore melee energy. Skip Grenades are important because we’re using Shinobu’s Vow, which gives us two grenade charges and improves their regeneration rate.

Here’s the play, then: use Skip Grenades and melee attacks to generate Warmind Cells. Dodge to get your melee back and use it again. Sprint to recharge your dodge. Fire at Warmind Cells to nuke rooms. Repeat.

You’ll need to equip some other mods to get your Warmind Cells to actually do anything. I recommend Rage of the Warmind, Cellular Suppression, and Global Reach. This combination will create Warmind Cells that, when fired at, will blind and suppress enemies. Further damage will destroy the Cell in an explosion that can take out an entire room of adds. You can play around with different mods, but you probably want to make room for Global Reach regardless, as it greatly extends the range of the Warmind Cell effects.

We want our abilities — especially grenades — up as often as possible, so Discipline mods will be useful here, as will mods like BomberDynamoDistribution, and Hands-On. A couple of Enhanced Ashes to Assets wouldn’t hurt, either, considering how many grenades you’re going to be throwing.

Oh, and keep in mind that your Arcstrider super will also generate Warmind Orbs. You unfortunately can’t pop them with your staff, but they’ll be there for cleanup afterwards — or your allies can target them as they spawn.

Loadout Options

You aren’t tied to any particular loadout for this build, but weapons with Demolitionist have great synergy with grenades. The Seventh Seraph sidearm can roll with it, equip an Anti-Barrier Mod, and has the added bonus of generating more Warmind Cells. Since you’re going to be getting up-close and personal much of the time, shotguns with One-Two Punch work well, as do Swashbuckler weapons.

For your Power slot, a sword is a good choice — they’re great for boss damage and can equip the Disruption Blade seasonal mod, which makes them effective against Overload Champions. You could also go with a Demolitionist grenade launcher.

Limitations

Warmind Cells don’t appear in Crucible, so this build is purely a PVE setup. Additionally, you might have some trouble with Champions in Nightfall and Lost Sector activities. For the most part, you can deal with Champions by equipping an Anti-Barrier sidearm or Unstoppable hand cannon alongside your Disruption Blade sword, but in Master level Nightfalls the close-up nature of this build will be a liability, and most of the time you’ll be better off with Celestial Nighthawk and Golden Gun or a tether-focused strategy.

Still, for nearly every other PVE activity in Destiny 2, this build is a blast. Between your grenades, melee attacks, and Warmind Cells, you’ll be clearing rooms in seconds. Give it a shot, and let me know how it goes for you in the comments.
