Zipper the Bunny has risen once again to choose violence in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The announcement of doom was made on the official Animal Crossing Twitter account earlier today. “Hello! Did you know that Bunny Day is on a different date every year? This year, it’s on April 4th—that’s next Sunday,” it wrote. “Starting today, you might begin finding eggs hidden around your island. I hope you find eggsactly the number of eggs you want!” The account also shared that Nook’s Cranny already has some fun Bunny Day items in stock to prepare for the event. Those items will be different every day.

But the threat of Zipper the Bunny throughout this year’s Bunny Day event? That will be the same every day. Starting today, he will always (at least for the next week) be in the shadows, in broad daylight, everywhere you look and turn. He is the one who places all the eggs you’ll find across your island, and he’s extremely excited about his job… or so he’d like you to believe.

His name is Zipper and he has a zipper on his back, implying that there is someone underneath what is a costume. He quickly grew to unsettle the whole community through his performativity last year. The moment the player leaves the screen, he stops being in character — a jarring contrast to the rest of the genuine and earnestly wholesome world of Animal Crossing. There is so much potential for deviousness and deception within him, and I am terrified of what he might have in store for us in 2021.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons community is already afraid, too. The Animal Crossing subreddit is already inundated with posts expressing fear and trepidation, such as the ones you can see below.

Zipper was actually arguably not the most contentious part of last year’s Bunny Day event, though. Many players were irked by the frequency with which they’d find eggs on their islands. While these eggs could be used to make various types of Easter celebration furniture and items for your island, all too often players would find them when trying to collect regular items they needed for non-Easter crafting. Nintendo eventually listened to the community’s feedback and released a patch that made the event less frustrating. So, this thankfully shouldn’t a problem this year.

But Zipper the Bunny? He will always be a problem.
