Final Fantasy XIV had a tremendous showing at PAX East with the reveal Dawntrail’s release date, but Square Enix also announced that the Final Fantasy XVI crossover event will start next week.
A collaboration between Square Enix's premier MMO and their flagship Final Fantasy title of 2023, the FFXIV x FFXVI collaboration will see the world of Valisthea and Eorzea collide. Below, are details of the FFXVI collaboration, when you can expect to see it begin, and the rewards you'll earn.
FFXIV x FFXVI crossover event details
The event will run from Tuesday, April 2, at 1am PDT until Wednesday, May 8, at 7:59am. To take part in the event, players will need to be at least level 50 and have completed the final A Realm Reborn Main Scenario Quest (MSQ) “The Ultimate Weapon.” The event quest "The Path Infernal" will then be available from the Neophyte Adventurer, in Ul’dah, The Steps of Nald (X: 8.8, Y: 9.8).

This quest will apparently see the Warrior of Light take on one of the Eikons of FFXVI, who will look suspiciously familiar to any player who's banished their fair share of Primals in FFXIV.
FFXIV x FFXVI crossover rewards

Rewards for the quest include some stylish glamour gear, the Metian set, which includes a chest, arm, leg, and feet piece. Inspired by the attire of FFXVI protagonist Clive Rosfield, The Metian gear offers a stylish black leather covered outfit for the Warrior of Light. Beyond this, the event also features a mount and minion version of canine companion Torgal, a new Clive Rosfield Triple Triad Card, and a few Orchestrion Rolls.
To get your hands on the rewards, you'll need to complete the three quests included in the event, starting with "A Land on Fire," continuing with "Pain to Recall," and concluding with "The Path Infernal." After the completion of "The Path Infernal" the player will receive a Metian Attire Coffer containing the Metian Vest, Metian Gauntlets, Metian Chausses, and Metian Sollerets, a Torgal Whistle (used to summon the Torgal Mount), and the Torgal Pup Minion.
The FFXIV x FFXVI crossover event, like many past crossovers, is keen to push fans of the Final Fantasy series’ premier MMO to try FFXVI for the first time. The event’s website includes primers on the world of FFXVI, and a brief rundown of the world of Valisthea. FFXIV lead producer and director, Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida was also the producer behind FFXVI. With the confidence FFXIV fans have in Yoshi-P, perhaps this crossover will inspire players of the MMO to try the single player title if they haven’t already.
