Games in the Pokemon series are often released in pairs with two distinct versions that, while oftentimes have the exact same gameplay, include features and Pokemon encounters that the other version doesn't have, encouraging interactivity between players. Pokemon GO is bringing this concept back for both the in-person and global iterations of Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh, which has been done—albeit controversially—with the event in years past.
This year, however, Niantic has taken player feedback into account and removed the "version exclusive" feature of each path in its entirety, ensuring that everyone that participates in the global version of Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh will get the same bonuses and opportunities to encounter the same Pokemon. The sole difference in the paths is how it effects the moveset of the Legendary Pokemon Dialga or Palkia during the event, though it seems the choice may still allow for access to some of the other path's bonuses as well.
To ensure that players are aware of what their choice may result in, we're offering a deep look into both the Diamond version and Pearl version and what they will provide players during Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh.
Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh Diamond Version Bonuses
Just like in Pokemon Diamond and Brilliant Diamond, choosing the Diamond version for Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh focuses heavily on the Legendary Pokemon Dialga—particularly its Origin Forme, which can activate a new effect not seen previously in the mobile title, known as an Adventure Effect.
Pokemon GO Tour: Sinnoh Pearl Version Bonuses
Meanwhile, the Pearl version path brings players closer to the Legendary Pokemon Palkia, who can control space. If Palkia is in its Origin Forme, its unique Adventure Effect, activated with its signature move Spacial Rend, takes its manipulation of space into the Pokemon GO overworld, allowing players to encounter Pokemon at a larger radius.
