Summer is in full swing in the real world (if you’re in the northern hemisphere, that is). It’s probably too hot in a few places, in fact. There’s one place where it’s always the right temperature, however: inside Final Fantasy XIV! Folks are already coming together to run beach parties and conventions in-game, where you don’t have to worry about the heat or a pandemic. The FFXIV team is helping that along with a brand-new Moonfire Faire event.
Every year, this summer seasonal event pushes players to have some fun in the sun. The reward for that fun is usually brand-new swimwear and summer-themed furnishings for those lucky enough to have a home. This year’s iteration of the Moonfire Faire will begin on August 10, 2022 at 1:00 a.m. PDT / 4:00 a.m. EDT, ending on August 26, 2022 at 7:59 a.m. PDT / 10:59 a.m. EDT.
The new quest to kick off the event is “A Matter of Course,” available from Mayaru Moyaru in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X: 11.5, Y: 13.8). Players need to be at least Level 30 in order to participate in the quest.
Moonfire Faire 2022 Rewards and Items
Finishing the event quest will reward you with the Summer Sunset set and Summer Bonfire item. The full list of items are below:
- Summer Sunset Bandana
- Summer Sunset Beach Cover-Up
- Summer Sunset Wrist Torques
- Summer Sunset Bottoms
- Summer Sunset Sandals
- Summer Bonfire
It’s worth noting that the outfit is wearable by both genders, but the look of the outfit varies wildly depending on the gender of your character. The top is an open shirt for male characters and an open shirt with bikini top for female characters. While male characters get some sizable pants with the Summer Sunset Bottoms, the female iteration is just a black set of bikini briefs. Sorry ladies, no poofy long shorts for you.
Once the event ends on August 26, you’ll no longer be able to acquire the event attire. The FFXIV team has put many of those items up on the Online Store, however. In fact, there’s currently a sale on the Online Store, where you can pick up past Moonfire Attire attire and emotes for a discount! Certain items from previous events will also be available from Moonfire Faire vendors in-game.
The event is all on the road to Patch 6.2, which is expected to launch on August 23! There’s a second Live Letter from the Producer for the patch coming on August 12 and you can see what details the FFXIV team has already released on the Special Site. It’s currently your last chance to grab the Archfiend Attire in PVP or participate in the Moogle Treasure Trove event.
