Thavnairian Corn in FFXIV joins a few new crafting materials introduced in Patch 6.1 for Endwalker. The name alone should give away its basic location, but in case you’re still not sure on the specifics, we’ve put together a little guide on where to find it. Not to mention when to find it and what you need along the way. It’s found in Legendary gathering node, after all, and that comes with its own unique set of rules. As if you couldn’t tell already, Thavnairian Corn is found in Thavnair. That’s one of the very first new locations players reach in Endwalker during the Main Scenario Quest. Though you won’t actually be able to access the material itself for a good long while after that first encounter. You need to have an appropriately leveled and geared up Botanist first.
You also need the appropriate item to even see the Legendary Node that produces Thavnairian Corn. The item in question is a “Tome of Botanical Folklore – Ilsabard and the Northern Empty.” You can purchase it from the Splendors Vendor NPC in Radz-at-Han (X: 11.3, Y: 9.1) for 16 copies of “Regional Folklore Trader’s Token C.” This wordy item can, in turn, be purchased right next to the Splendors Vendor at the Scrip Exchange NPC (X: 11.5, Y: 9.4). She sells each token for 100 White Gatherers’ Scrips. Just check the shop category “Gatherers’ Scrip (Materials/Misc.)” and the subcategory “White Scrip Exchange (Lv. 90 Bait/Tokens).” Once you have 16 tokens in hand you can acquire the tome. Use it from your inventory to finally gain access to the Legendary botany node in Thavnair.

The node in question is located within The Shroud of the Samgha area of Thavnair. It’s up on top of a plateau (X: 25.2, Y: 21.6) that requires a flying mount to reach. It should also appear on your map if you have the skill Truth of Forests active (which any Level 90 Botanist should have on by default). Though this requires you to be around at the right time. Thavnairian Corn appears at two different periods during each in-game day.
- 08:00-10:00 / 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eorzea Time
- 20:00-22:00 / 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eorzea Time
That means you have two chances every 24 virtual hours. That’s a lot of corn! Assuming you have the right gear of course. As if the plateau, the time limitations, the Tome of Botanical Folklore, and leveling up to your Botanist weren’t enough restrictions…
The last thing you need to harvest Thavnairian Corn is 3,230 Perception. This is one of the three stats dictated in large part by the quality of your gear. Thankfully, it’s not too hard to reach that level of Perception. A full set of Item Level 560 gathering gear with enough Gatherer’s Guile Materia VIII will do the trick. This is the top Perception Materia from the last expansion, Shadowbringers, and thus much cheaper and easier to acquire than the current stuff. You do not need to overmeld your gear at all to harvest Thavnairian Corn in this way.
