A constant goal for players of Final Fantasy XIV is to keep up-to-date with the best gear available when a new patch is released so they can participate in the latest content without much struggle. Obtaining the best-in-slot (BiS) gear can require weeks of working through complex content, but Square Enix has opened the door for more players to get their hands on it.
Typically, Warriors of Light who make their way through the current-tier Savage Raids are the first to get their hands on BiS gear through a mixture of item coffer drops and gear augmentation. Opening the chests given after completing the Pandæmonium: Anabaseios (Savage) raids can reward unique materials like Divine Twine and Divine Shine, which are exchanged alongside Credendum gear pieces to upgrade the item to their Augmented Credendum versions.
The Augmented Credendum pieces boast a higher item level and stats than their base counterparts earned by exchanging Allagan Tomestones of Comedy. Patch 6.5 makes Divine Twine and Divine Shine available outside of the Savage Raids, allowing players who have yet to face the challenge of the current tier of Savage raids obtain gear with the highest item level to date.
Where to get Divine Twine and Divine Shine for the best gear in FFXIV Patch 6.5
While you won't have to study up on the mechanics of Savage raids to get your hands on Augmented Credendum gear, it will still take both work and time to obtain the complete set. Divine Twine and Divine Shine are now available to purchase from specific vendors, but they won't accept your hard-earned gil.
Nesvaaz at Radz-at-Han (X: 10.6, Y: 10.0) offers both materials in exchange for coins rewarded by completing Endwalker's Alliance Raids, the Aglaia Coin, the Euphrosyne Coin, and the newly added Thaleia Coin. Aglaia Coins and Euphrosyne Coins are a guaranteed reward with each completion of their respective raids, but players will be limited to one Thaleia Coin per week. This method will take nine weeks to obtain every piece of gear.
With the Divine Twine or Divine Shine in hand, speak to Khaldeen at Radz-at-Han (X: 10.9, Y: 10.4) to exchange the required material with the previously obtained Credendum gear piece to get its Augmented Credendum version. As is the case with the Credendum gear, you can't have duplicates of the current end-game items, so you won't be able to fill both ring slots with the Augmented Credendum Ring. Nine of your 11 gear slots having item level 660 items is still nothing to thumb your nose at, and as long as you supplement your remaining gear slots with appropriate pieces, you'll be better prepared for whatever comes your way.
Alternative ways to get Augmented Credendum gear in FFXIV
Coins aren't the only way to get your hands on the materials needed. If you're looking to supplement how quickly you complete the set or are uninterested in Alliance Raids, then Wilmetta at Radz-at-Han (X: 10.5, Y: 7.4) and J'lakshai in Old Sharlayan (X: 11.9, Y: 13.2) will offer you both Divine Twine and Divine Shine for another currency – Sacks of Nuts. These are earned for completing Hunt Marks, and players can earn up to 40 at a time for slaying them while in a party.
You'll need 3,000 Sacks of Nuts to purchase the Divine Twine, while the Divine Shine will set you back 2,000. To obtain nuts quickly, watch for shouts advertising Hunt Trains. These trains consist of multiple parties working together to quickly slay multiple marks across different zones, earning hundreds of Sacks of Nuts in only a few minutes. These trains are usually advertised beforehand in Discord communities like Centurio Hunts.
Once you've got the items, head to Radz-at-Han to speak to Khaldeen and you can then turn in your Divine Twine and Shine for augmented gear.
