Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida, the lead director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantsy XVI, is set to be presented with a Lifetime Achievement award at the Brasil Game Show 2023. Yoshida will receive the reward on Oct. 13, as part of a larger visit to the industry event. Details of the award were released on the morning of Sept. 29, in a post on the official Final Fantasy XIV blog.
Between Oct. 13 and Oct. 15, Yoshida and FFXIV localization supervisor Michael-Christopher Koji Fox will head to the Brasil Game Show 2023 to participate in the opening ceremony, signings, photo sessions, and more. The pair will also field questions in a Q & A, making this event somewhat of a mini Fan Fest for South America.
On Oct. 13, Yoshi-P will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement award as part of a special ceremony. Details on the award are currently limited, but few would dispute Yoshida’s worthiness.

Yoshida is widely credited as being the savior of FFXIV. The game initially launched to disastrous reviews until Yoshida was placed in a director and producer role for the game. His decision to relaunch and rebuild the game from the ground up while still adding to and improving the existing release is often cited as the reason for the title’s resurgence and rise in popularity. Yoshida subsequently served as a producer for Final Fantasy XVI, and has now worked as a game director at Square Enix for over two decades.
To watch the Lifetime Achievement ceremony, tune into the Brasil Game Show YouTube Channel on Oct. 13, around 2pm PDT. Audio will be available in Portuguese and Japanese only. You can also watch Koji Fox and Yoshida take part in the Opening Ceremonies every day beginning at 7:30am PDT on the same channel.
