PAX East is returning to Boston for 2024, and Square Enix is getting in on the fun by bringing Final Fantasy XIV to the convention. With a looming expansion, it's only fitting that the game get a spotlight in one of the biggest gaming conventions in the United States.
In a press release, PAX East organizers ReedPop and Penny Arcade announced that several exhibitors were confirmed to be in attendance, including The Pokémon Company, Final Fantasy XIV, Quantic Dream, IllFonic, and Larian Studios. Although the list of exhibitors has been updated on the PAX East website, the panels are still listed as 'coming soon', despite the press release stating that it is live. Fanbyte has reached out to event organizers about the panel schedule, but no response has been received at the time of writing.

PAX East is a fantastic convention for Final Fantasy XIV to attend considering it's one of the biggest gaming conventions on the east coast, and the timing is deal. FFXIV's newest expansion, Dawntrail, is set to release in the summer. No exact date for its launch was given at the final Fan Fest, so players are already speculating that there might be a Live Letter from the Producers during one of the PAX Panels, and the date could be revealed during that broadcast.
Square Enix brought FFXIV to the 2019 and 2020 conventions to show off the newest expansion at the time, Shadowbringers. Last year, FFXVI producer Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida, who is also director and producer for FFXIV, attended to promote FFXVI, which was set to release just a few months after the convention.
This year, it's likely that there will be at least some new info coming out of the convention. In previous PAX conventions and at the 2023 Fan Fests, players were given the opportunity to play through a new Trial coming to the game, or an existing one. These new Trials are typically not MSQ Trials, keeping the mystery around the story a secret.
PAX East takes place at the Boston Convention Center from March 21-24. Tickets for the convention are still on sale and can be purchased on the PAX East website.
