One of the most important rewards from the Final Fantasy XIV “Make it Rain” event, Ballroom Etiquette – Soliciting Applause simultaneously unlocks both the “Show Left” and “Show Right” emotes.
Like all Ballroom Etiquette items in FFXIV, Soliciting Applause is a consumable. You must use it from your inventory on a specific character. That character will then have access to the attached emote or emotes. In this case: Show Left and Show Right. You can activate either emote from your collection menu, or by typing /showright and /showleft into the in-game text box.
Doing so causes the player to drop to one knee, smile, and wiggle their fingers will producing sparkly gold light and a subtle sound effect like tinkling glass chimes. The two different emotes function pretty much identically. The only difference which side your character faces (i.e. left or right). The animations are mirror images of one another. You can see both the Show Left emote and Show Right emote in action for yourself with the animated gif below.
Because Ballroom Etiquette – Soliciting Applause was tied to the Make it Rain 2022 event, you can no longer acquire the emotes in FFXIV for the time being. Though these sorts of seasonal events typically return to the game after some undisclosed amount of time. In some cases, emotes and other event-limited cosmetics may also be added to the Optional Item store. In which case it would likely cost real-world money.
